Nothing in the world can make the intensity of the final week of session any better than Ian’s pancakes! The Capitol has a lounge that keeps the whole operation going and I’m so grateful for the comfort and calories they provide.

In a beautiful ceremony at Centennial Hall on Sunday I was honored to see a number of community leaders celebrated with honorary doctorate degrees, including Russell Dick from Huna Totem Corporation and Herman Davis from the L’uknax.adí Coho People.

With the deepest respect and gratitude for the amazing work done by all educators in Alaska’s schools, I would like to extend my warmest wishes for Teacher Appreciate Week! We know teachers cannot work their magic without the support of all school staff, and to all who work in Alaska’s schools I say “Thank you!”

Yakutat Mayor Bremner sent this sight for sore eyes last week when the MV Kennicott arrived in town, the first ferry in four years. Yakutat has four more ferries scheduled this year and we are keeping our fingers crossed these visits will happen!
