Singing has never been about the fame or attention or views or plays. It started as a way to express myself when I was little. The only time I felt comfortable because if you knew me as a young child..I was awkward and shy and didn’t have very many friends. Actually wore a patch before and after an eye surgery which made kids call me pirate in Kindergarten and 1st grade. I was in speech and had trouble making friends until about 4th grade when we would sing and dance at sleepovers.

Then I learned through middle and high school talent shows that I could make people feel a certain way when I sang.. sometimes even tears and thought wow.. this is what Mariah Carey did for me growing up. I want to be inspirational to people too.

I let a pretty high up music instructor in college tell me that I still needed to plan how to make a living for myself. I changed my major, went into the corporate world and I constantly feel out of place. It’s not natural if it doesn’t involve music.

Out of my 3 kids that are a year apart.. 2 of them are Autistic with sensory processing disorders. This has challenged me in finding appropriate daycare and work that just understands. Seems like every road I try to navigate down in providing the life they need, leads back to music. Music is how we learned to communicate. Through many nursery rhymes and making songs up on the spot we were able to break through milestones.

It’s not about the fame, it’s bigger than me.. it’s about providing for my kids. If I don’t inspire anyone else, I want to inspire them to never give up on what brings them joy.
