Furr Ever Pets Rescue

Rescue is always challenging. We rescue many dogs, with many issues. Mostly, the dogs have been neglected, no flea or heart worm protection. We have been fortunate in curing ever heart worm case we have had so far. We use a slow kill method. It is the same cost as prevention costs. We have worked with people and educated them on how slow kill works and found homes for the positive dogs. It is not as good as fast kill, but it slowly works and it is something that is affordable. so many people dump their dogs when the dog test positive for HW. Rescue fosters have given these dogs a new chance for a good life. I respect the diagnosis, but I no longer have the fear of it.
I have the first dog that we were successful killing off the heart worms.
I rescued Boomerang in September of of 2011. The vet guessed him to be 2 or 3 at the time. He lived in my house and only allowed attention when he wanted it.He got his name because he won't come back. He was Heart Worm positive. It too one and a half years, using only Heart Gard Plus. Nothing else. In 2012, he became heart worm negative,
He is still guarded about being touched today. Luckily, he had not been sick in all those years, other than the worms. I can corner him and catch him for shots. When people visit, he often come to them to be pet, but does not want to be picked up. We took him to adoptions, but he threatened to bite so gradually I decided that he just wanted to stay here.
It is such a wonder what happened to him before he came to my house? He had very tight harness on, it was on the verge of beacong embed in his skin. It had to be cut and pulled off him. I can just barely get him to allow a collar after all these years.
He. has such a clowning personality even now. He likes to sleep on my bed and be close. Yesterday he tried something he has never done before on his own. I was loading up dogs to take to adoptions and he found an empty kennel. I noticed a dog in the kennel, but never guessed it was him. The kennel was closed and taken to the car. I wish you could have seen his face and the faces of those around him, when the kennel was opened. He actually was vey happy for me to take him back home. Why do we never have a camera when needed. I hope you all enjoyed this story as much as we did.

Meey Oreo. Oreo is a sweet little 2-year-old Rat Terrier mix with a lovable personality and plenty of charm. This little guy does well with other small dogs and enjoys having canine friends around, but he would do best in a home without large dogs. Oreo is already house trained (no guarantees in your home) and knows how to use a doggy door, making him a pretty easy little guy to have around! He’s looking for a loving family who will give him the patience, attention, and forever home he deserves. Meet him at our adoption event this Saturday at Jake's Feed in Longview from 10am to 2pm.

Meet Trixie. She is approximately 5 years old and weighs 6 lbs. Trixie is a toy breed of mixed heritage. We have no idea of the mix. She takes at least 3 days to warm up in a new home. You must watch her clues until she comes to you. Her adopter will need to let her adjust at her pace. She gets along with other dogs and doesn't bother cats. She can be possessive of her person and warn off a larger dog that wants to share your lap. We don't know how she will respond to children or men as she has not been exposed in her foster home. She does very well to potty outside or use a potty pad. She walks on a leash and kennels very well. Meet her at our adoption event this Saturday at Jake's Feed in Longview from 10am to 2pm.

Meet Moxie. She is a mixed breed girl and approximately 5-6 years old. She was found dumped at a job site along with Moose. A kind man working at the site brought them to us. She was suffering with flea dermatitis and hair loss. That has since cleared up and her hair is coming back in nicely. She has a spa day on Thursday to get her looking her best. Unfortunately she is HW+ and is now on the slow kill method of treatment. She is friendly and seeks attention. She knows her name and comes when called. She would love to sleep with her person, but will kennel when needed. She gets along well with other dogs and is doing well on potty training. Meet Wiggles. She is a Coccapoo, weighs 15 lbs and estimated to be 9 years old. She found herself in a shelter and she was slow to warm up and has been confused since loosing her home. It has taken her a while to figure out just where her life is going. She studies new people and loves to be talked to. With her potty training, she needs reminders that she can go outside. This girl loves to be close to people and when she allows it, to be pet. Wiggles is just confused about all the changes to her world. She is being groomed on Thursday. Meet Sophie. She is a ShihTzu and approximately 5 years old. Sophie has a grade 6 heart murmur and a slow heartbeat. Our vet said that there is no indication that medication is necessary at this time. She has been in her foster home for a month and lives a normal life. She can not get overheated. She goes outsude to potty in the morning and evenings and uses a potty pad in-between. She gets along with other dogs and cats. She does not like to kennel but will if you walk her down and put her in. She is shy in new situations, but likes laps and pets when she feels safe. Meet Karie. She is estimated to be around one or two years old. She was turned into the shelter when her owner decided she needed something different. The vet could not tell for certain, but she appears to have a faint spay scar. She has had no babies. Karie wants to follow her person around the house and sit on a lap and watch TV. House training is coming along well. This little girl loves playing and is not destructive unless she finds an unattended kleenex or napkin. She will grab and take off with it and doesn't leave it alone until confetti has been made. She has a very warm personality. Meet Bruno. He was taken to the Tyler shelter by his owner. He is the sweetest little guy at 2 years old and weighing 11 pounds. He takes a bit to warm up to strangers, but when he does, he warms up to be a loving little lap dog. House training is in progress. He kennels well in exchange for a treat. No biting or growling, or barking. He loves to play with the other dogs and seems to like everyone. Meet him at our adoption event this Saturday at Jake's Feed in Longview from 10am to 2pm.

Meet Sylvie. She is a mixed breed girl and is approximately 7 years old. She came to rescue along with Jazz when her owner went into care. She had a severe hair liss on half of her body from fleas and a skin infection. That is cleared up and her hair is growing back. She is a sweet girl and would like nothing better than a lap to sleep on. She kennels well but I think she would prefer to sleep with her new person.
