Most IT support companies these days operate as managed services providers. For a monthly fee, they offer a suite of services that includes remote monitoring, security software, data backups and remote access to your computers. If the MSP gets hacked, the hackers could gain access to client computers by way of the remote management software being used. Cybertek Computer Solutions can help you prepare for disasters such as ransomware without exposing you to additional risk.

If you use Firefox as your web browser, you may be getting redirected to a page, like this picture, that tries to convince you that there is an urgent update to be installed. This is an attempt to install malware on your computer. It is caused by a malicious ad on the website you just visited.
When you see this, click Cancel in the pop-up. You can click the back arrow to go back to the web page you were on previously. Never save or download anything from a pop-up such as this.
Firefox downloads and installs updates automatically so don't be fooled by these fake updates..
If you suspect your computer is infected with malware, give us a call or stop by. We can scan your computer and remove the malware.

Yahoo announced yesterday that all accounts that existed when they were hacked in 2013 were compromised. That is over 3 billion accounts. Hackers were able to gain access to usernames, passwords, security questions and alternative email addresses. With this information they could access yahoo email accounts and possibly other accounts if the same password was used on other sites.
Hopefully everyone with a yahoo account has changed their password by now. It is also important to change your password on any other sites where you used the same password.
The best practice is to use a unique password for each site you log into but passwords can be difficult to keep up with. A password manager can help with this but if someone gets the master password, they can get access to all accounts being managed. If you don't use different passwords for each site, at least make sure your email password is not used anywhere else.
3 Billion Yahoo Accounts Hacked: What You Can Do Verizon said that Yahoo's 2013 data breach involved not 1 billion user accounts, but 3 billion -- every single Yahoo account at the time.
