Calling all future leaders! The Wayne County Junior Deputy Academy is back this summer and ready to welcome the next group of young cadets!

📅 Dates: June 22 – June 26
👥 Who Can Apply: Students entering 7th & 8th grade next school year

This exciting week-long program gives students a hands-on look into law enforcement, leadership, teamwork, and personal responsibility. Participants will engage in fun, educational activities while building confidence and learning valuable life skills.

🚔 Jr. Deputy Academy – June 22–26, 2026 🚔

The Sheriff’s Office is excited to announce our Jr. Deputy Academy happening June 22–26! This fun and educational program gives youth the opportunity to learn what it’s like to work in law enforcement while building leadership, teamwork, and safety skills.

Participants will get hands-on experiences and demonstrations that may include:🔹 Patrol operations🔹 K-9 demonstrations🔹 Crime scene investigations🔹 Defensive tactics🔹 And much more!

This is a great opportunity for young people in our community to meet deputies, learn about public safety, and gain valuable life skills in a positive environment.

Who Can Attend Middle school students going into the 7th and 8th grade next school year📋

We have a semi truck of ice to give out at the Wayne County Georgia Sheriff's Office. We should be here until it’s gone.

Today is the last day to turn in applications for Jr. Deputy. We will begin contacting parents/guardians tomorrow to confirm if you child will be able to attend.

We will be extending our deadline to May 14th for applications due to us getting into MPMS late this year.

We are just over a week into accepting applications for JDA, and we only have 30 spots left. Submit your application on our website https://www.wcsoga.com Below is one of our classes which will put students in a situation law enforcement may encounter and may require them to make split second decisions.

The JDA application is now available on the Wayne County Georgia Sheriff's Office website https://www.wcsoga.com/. Have a parent or guardian fill out the application. The last day we are accepting applications is May 10th. If your child is selected the parent/ guardian will receive a phone call from Detective Anderson or Sellers. All middle school age children in Wayne County are eligible even if they are home schooled or in private school.
