AT THE BENT TREE ANIMAL SHELTER

Meet Flynn, a handsome silver tabby kitten. This lovable little rascal is full of energy but also loves to cuddled. He will purr & purr. He is neutered, microchipped & up to date on all his shots and is ready to go to his forever home. He came to us as an abandoned 4 week old kitten about 5 months ago & is very much loved by all our volunteers. Life is never boring with Flynn around. His best friend & wrestling partner is Dylan, a little black kitten who will be neutered this Tuesday.

This friendly black kitty has been hanging around off and on for a month at the top of Quail Trot (off of Alpine). Please, if you know this kitty let me know.
Just last week we had a bear on the porch at this same house and the week before a video of a coyote chasing a grey cat up a tree one street away. Text me at 678-414-1047 if you know this cat. If it is yours, please keep it in the house. And if it’s not neutered, please neuter!

2026 Animal Shelter Golf Tournament

The Bent Tree Shelter Golf Tournament was a huge success. Donations for the Animal Shelter are the total means of funding for the animals we care for. Without the generosity of the people of Bent Tree the shelter would not operate. The Shelter is not a budgeted item but is strictly donation funded and volunteer run.
The Tournament was also a great way to spread the word about our shelter for folks that don’t know the shelter is here.

Thank you to Charles Rice and our golf pro, Rob, for setting up a fun tournament. To top that off, the weather was perfect. All the teams playing seemed to have a great time, and the Tavern supplied lunch at the conclusion of the tournament. A big “thank you” to all participants and staff for making this tournament such a great success – our donations totaled $11,000!

In 2025 we had the largest number ever of cats, kittens and dogs coming through our shelter. Over 85 animals spent time with us in 2025. We reunited several lost pets with their families, adopted out another 60 plus and still have more in the shelter to be adopted. It’s 365 days a year and things can change in a minute. Our volunteers are flexible and willing to go the extra mile.
Because of this tournament and donations throughout the year we can go the extra mile. Thank you, Bent Tree for helping our animals!

The 2026 Golf Challenge Continues Its Success!

June 15 was a fabulous day for the Bent Tree Foundation Golf Challenge. With picture-perfect weather and our beautiful Bent Tree golf course as the backdrop, 19 four-person teams enjoyed a day of golf, fellowship, and friendly competition—all in support of a wonderful cause.
The challenge encouraged teams to raise $1,000 or more to fund scholarships for qualified Pickens County students, as well as children of Bent Tree residents and employees. Proceeds also help provide teacher and classroom grants. Thanks to the generosity of our golfers, sponsors, and donors, this year’s event raised an outstanding $13,950.
Several teams exceeded the $1,000 challenge and funded scholarships through their donations:
• David Tobin Group - $2,050
• Robert Chambers Group - $1,700
• Huff’s Hackers - $1,500
• Poker Club Group - $1,100
• Warren & Willie’s Whiff Wizards — $1,100
The David Tobin Group raised enough to fund two scholarships, and an additional $1,000 scholarship was generously funded by Colin and Sheila Thompson.
One of the highlights of the tournament was the awarding of free rounds of golf to 13 of the 19 teams. These prizes were awarded without regard to tournament scores, adding an extra element of excitement and fun for all participants. We extend our sincere appreciation to the many outstanding golf courses that generously donated these rounds.
For the third consecutive year, Calvert “Huff” Huffines, a Bent Tree Foundation Board Director, generously provided funding for complimentary pizza, beer, wine, and soft drinks for golfers and volunteers following the tournament. Participants gathered at The Tavern to celebrate the day, share stories from the course, and enjoy refreshments while awaiting the tournament results. Special thanks to The Tavern for the delicious pizzas and cookies that made the gathering even more enjoyable.
Events like the Golf Challenge demonstrate the generosity and community spirit that make Bent Tree such a special place. On behalf of the Bent Tree Foundation, thank you to everyone who played, donated, volunteered, and contributed in any way to this year’s tremendous success. Your support helps provide educational opportunities for students and valuable resources for teachers, making a lasting difference in our community.

This small white long-haired dog was found at the Sunrise Memorial Gardens across from McDonalds. He is safe with the family that found him. He will be checked for a chip this morning (07/07). If you have any information about this sweet dog, please contact LuAnn Chambers at 678-414-1047.

Missing Cat - Aspen got out today on Sharp Top Mountain Trail. She is black and white and weighs 11 lbs. If you see her, please call Judie Uchitel at 404-226-0287.
