Our Story

Jonathan (Jonny) Steiger and Tyson Fehrman started By George Farm in Wisconsin in 2009 with a one acre vegetable operation. Our literal seed money came from a small inheritance from Tyson’s grandfather, George. To honor his memory, our farm was born By George.

Six years later, we built our farmstead creamery on the banks of Yale Creek and Little Applegate river in Southern Oregon and milk 21 grass-fed Jersey cows. The calves and cows are raised with every care for the animal’s well-being. The cheese is hand-made with care for the art of cheese-making.

Find our cheese at fine grocers in our local area like Cartwright’s Market in Grants Pass and Medford, Ashland and Medford Food Co-ops, Market of Choice in Ashland, Fry Family and Whistling Duck Farmstores.

We also attend several markets each week with the Rogue Valley Growers’ and Crafters’ Market (Tues. and Sat. in Ashland & Thurs. in Medford), and the Grants Pass Growers’ Market on Saturday.
