The CAP Theatre Company dazzled audiences at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church this past weekend with its second summer musical experience, bringing Disneyโs Frozen KIDS to life! Congratulations to the cast and crew, CAP Delores Barr Weaver Teaching Artist Fellow in Theatre, Christian Anderson, Teaching Artist Fellows in Theatre, Chelsye Ginn and Julia Veiga, who led 29 students from multiple schools, in a two-week theatre camp culminating in two live performances to packed audiences!
This year's camp provided students with both performance and production tracks rounding out a complete theatre experience for the participants. Additional CAP Teaching Artist Fellows in Music, Dance and Strings also collaborated with the theatre team, helping students bring the story to life. Students learned to hand-paint set pieces, build costumes using sewing machines, had vocal and dance instruction and live string accompaniment from students in the CAP String Orchestra!
Emily, who played the role of Elsa shared: โAt first I was, "wow I can't believe we are doing this in two weeks! How am I going to learn everything?" But now we're at the show and I CAN do it! Shoutout to my teachers. I am so happy to have this experience!โ

It was an honor to celebrate CAP Teaching Artist Fellows and Teaching Artists during their annual Teacher Luncheon at the River Club today. Special thanks to speakers, CAP V.P. of Programs, Luisa Reis, V.P. of Philanthropy, Doug Walker, and the Very Reverend Kate Moorehead Carroll for beautifully articulating the enormous impact teachers have on their students' lives and futures, and to CAP Board Members, Marty Kern and Cherisa Murphy for supporting CAP today and always.
Students shared thank you messages for their teachers via video interviews, with one student explaining, "It feels like I am actually something in the whole program. Like I'm a big part. Because you know how stars, they're in the sky and each of them twinkle in their own special way? Yeah, it kind of feels like that. Thank you.'"
Thank you to CAP Teaching Artists for inspiring your students to twinkle in their own special way.โญ
