𝘔𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘛𝘰𝘮!: For the past 9 years, Tom has been pre-flighting, proofing, and printing his way to perfection here at Dagher Printing!

Tom is in charge of our Pre Press & Digital department. He oversees all our digital operations, as well as: preflight’s and adjusts your files to perfection before sending them off to production. His attention to detail, sharp focus and thorough understanding of the technical aspect of printing makes him an invaluable member to our team.
•
Prior to joining the Dagher family, Tom put in 15 years of experience in the printing industry with a BFA in Graphic Design from Louisiana Tech University.
•
In his free time, Tom enjoys hiking, riding his mountain bike, and playing chess.
•

George is our Director of Sales & Marketing and in charge of our Wholesale Division. His drive, and sharp focus has been the key to driving in sales and maintaining existing client relationships. But his strengths don’t stop there. George is always ready to step up in whatever capacity Dagher Printing sends his way from assisting in the Accounting department given his background in Finance from UNF, to his Administrative role, we can count on George to get things done.

When he’s not making things happen at Dagher Printing, George loves to spend time with his beautiful wife Ariel and their daughter Giuliana.

When you come in to see George, you can count on being greeted with a friendly face & leave knowing your job will be completed with the care, quality, and detail you hope for.

𝐀 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐦 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚. This space ensures the content will not be cut off or too close to the edge once the paper is trimmed. Think of your margin as a “safe area”. This means that unlike the bleed, whatever is in the margin space will print.
•
Some examples of components we typically would always want to keep within the safe area are text. The last thing you want is for your event to start at 9:00 PM but people show up at 9 in the morning instead because the “AM” was cut off!😅
•
Industry standard for margin is .25” but this does vary depending on whether you are printing a full book or a business card. You can easily set margins with most page layout programs.
•

𝐒𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 “𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐝𝐝 𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐞”, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲?

A short explanation for bleed is an extra amount of printed image that extends beyond the trim edge of the sheet or page that will be cut off. This means if you print words, logos or images all the way to the edges of your template, they will likely end up appearing slightly cut off in the final product.
•
Bleed is extremely important for a file to be considered print ready and give the correct look you want to achieve. Industry Standard is 1/8 of an inch for bleed but this can vary depending on whether you are printing a full Book or a Business card.
•
This all makes sense so far but it might raise the question as to why the sheet can’t just be cut right where the color ends without a bleed? There is always a slight shift on a cutter & further processers such as the folder and bindery. Without the bleed and extra room for variation, some sides of the piece could extend the color all the way to the edge while another side may show white edges due to it being slightly off.
•
Printers also need bleed to make sure they have enough extra paper when running the press to grab and pull through the press without leaving marks on your job.
•
Take this post for example. You can visualize by our dotted lines where the image is going to be trimmed after being printed multiples up on a much larger sheet of paper. Extending the Band-Aids as well as the background out to the proper bleed margin ensures that we have given enough room for the color to reach the end of the paper when trimmed.
If the background and Band-Aids were not extended to the bleed, the piece once cut, would show a white border surrounding the image.
•
While there is so much more that goes into bleed, we hope this post was able to give you a better understanding of bleed and why we printers are always asking for it.

Thankfully, we didn’t have to whip out the first aid kits after all!🤪

Let's talk about PMS Colors. You might be wondering, well what exactly does PMS stand for, and no... It’s not what you’re thinking🤪
•
PMS stands for Pantone Matching System. These are color charts that have THOUSANDS of preprinted color patches of blended inks, used to identify, display, or define special "branded" colors. PMS is the standard ink color system used by commercial printers. When you specify a Pantone Color number (PMS number), you will get the same color result anywhere in the world, as it is a universally used system. Now that is cool!
