Happy Christmas pupdate! Remember Milo and Zoey from Chicago? Well I got another update photo from their new family in VA! I made a typo on their adoption post and said they were in OH when that was the meeting place during transport (oops) these two are getting the best Christmas ever thanks to everyone who pulled together for them. It takes a village of volunteers and rescue efforts. Thank you everyone - Wendy

Update on Maddox. He was discharged last night. After some back and forth the vet decided to send us home with medication.
I’ve been asking the vets since Friday to prescribe two medications that have worked for medical cases in my past when everything else has been ruled out. They refused.
I only have one of these meds on hand at home but, it’s enough for a small dog his size for a week. One is prednisone. Since an ulcer has been ruled out I know he can have prednisone and that will also help with the stomach inflammation.
Anyway, we get home and I give Maddox his midnight medications. I add in prednisone. I had syringed some GI food slowly into him.
This morning I did his 8am medications with added prednisone.
By 11am he was eating boiled chicken and drinking water. Zero regurgitation.
Throughout the day with afternoon meds he ate chicken throughout the day and drank water with no issues.
I’m obviously only allowing small increments every few hours because he had not previously eaten in 7 days.
I called the vet last night if I had medication questions and updated them this morning also.
Tonight with his 8pm medications he also ate more chicken and even had a little bit of liverwurst and small pieces of some chicken jerky.
When I gave him a peppermint butt shower this evening to get the nasty smell off he had the zoomies after jumping on the couch and bed rolling around. A bit of his normal personality coming back.
So, fingers crossed we are on the road to recovery. After I’m able to de stress from this and shower I want to do a video so I can explain more in depth.
Hopefully, when I can do a video it might be seen by someone in the same situation and they can suggest trying the two medications I will mention as long as other larger medical issues have been ruled it.
It could save a pup’s life, the stress of getting more sick, or at the least, thousands of dollars and pet parent sanity.
Thank you everyone that has ridden this one out with us and was able to help. Praying he continues to improve! ❤️

Update on Maddox. His electrolytes and lab work have improved with the IV support however, he still is unable to eat or drink without regurgitation. The ER vet needs to place an NG tube to start getting nutrients into him and make calm the stomach.
They need another $3k-$4k for tonight and the NG tube. We have spent over $6k so far since Friday.
We do not have another $4k. If you are able to donate I put his gofundme with what’s going on. Everything helps. Please share. Until last week he was a happy healthy 2 year old.
All major medical issues have been ruled out and this is thought to be a bad GI bug or he ate something bad.

Thank you so much🙏

I’ve done rescue for years, helping dogs in need. I took a break from rescue to deal with personal life issues, divorce, moving, etc.
My beloved little guy that has gotten me through so much has a mysterious GI issue. He has not eaten in 7 days and vomits up water. I have spent over $4k in the past few days at the vet and now he is at the ER where they want $3-$4k per day. I understand having back up funds for emergency care but, I am wiped out now.
If you can donate or share I would be so grateful. I just want my little guy to feel better so he can come home. 🙏 Thank you so much, this is very tough to post. ❤️ Tracey

HAPPY UPDATE ! Remember Milo and Zoey? The Chicago pair. They’ve made their way to OH to their forever home. Thankful to the rescues involved and all of the volunteers involved. Thank you to those who donated to assist with their medical, boarding and grooming. Huge thank you to those who drove and coordinated everything. I deeply appreciate all the help, caring, and donations. It is a daunting task to find the right home for a bonded pair like Milo and Zoey and so glad it was able to happen. - Wendy
(Please remember we are not a active rescue and this is a courtesy post to update all who assisted)
