3 Doors Down have announced the tragic passing of their founder, lead singer, and songwriter Brad Arnold. He died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at age 47, following a courageous fight with cancer.

Arnold co-founded the band in 1996 in Escatawpa, Mississippi, serving as its original drummer and the unmistakable voice behind early 2000s rock staples. He penned the band’s breakout hit “Kryptonite” at just 15 years old during math class, blending raw emotion with anthemic hooks that defined post-grunge radio.

Diagnosed with Stage 4 clear cell renal cell carcinoma in May 2025, Arnold shared his journey openly, expressing faith amid the battle that forced the band to cancel their summer tour. He is survived by his wife Jennifer and family, who request privacy during this time.

We are SO excited to announce our return to the stage (after Cliff’s full recovery from hand surgery in 2025). We can’t wait to see our Jacksonville “family” early next year at THE MUSE! Happy new year to all of our amazing friends that have supported us for SO many years 🥰

We are back in action with great excitement to have our drummer back from his hand surgery. We’re scrapping it out at our studio here and just having a great time getting ready for 2026. Happy holidays and happy new year to everyone.
