We are delighted to share that Micah Dale Pick's work "What We're Given—What We Give" was selected for performance by Grammy award winning cellist !
Come hear it and more great music tomorrow night - Saturday Nov 18 7:00pm at the UNF School of Music UNF Fine Arts Center. (Free admission and parking!)
Micah Pick's piece for solo cello and electronics is "an exploration of the traditions we inherit and what we choose to pass on to following generations. Facing our heritage can come with a mix of joy, discomfort, deep frustration and great beauty and this piece seeks to move through and blur the lines of the many emotions that come with facing our legacies."
A little about Micah:
Micah is a composer, producer, and performer living in Central VA where he works as a collaborative pianist, music director, and music educator. He has an MFA in Music Composition from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. When not writing, performing, or teaching music, he can be found exploring the mountains and rivers of Virginia's Blue Ridge with his daughters.
We're so glad you're joining us this year Micah, thank you for sharing your music!

We are looking forward to so much great music tomorrow night with Nick Photinos Live @ UNF!
One of our featured artists we are delighted to highlight this year is Kirsten Strom - Composer, and her work titled "The Book of Life."
Kirsten shared "The Book of Life" is written in memory of Mrs. Loyer, Van Gogh's landlady in Hackford Rd. "Sonorous strings sing, starry scriptures spiral into the sky and sounds recorded from her neighborhood emerge and dissipate, like an evocation of the famous painting, 'Starry Starry Night.' The ending is a reference to a little prayer and hymn book found in Mrs Loyer’s residence, a small token of the past."
A little about Kristen:
She is an award-winning young composer, conductor and creative writer who hails from New Zealand. From a life-changing encounter with God as a child, she is drawn to sacred works and the creative use of spatial design. Her credo is to glorify God in her work, like Bach before her. She holds a Master of Music with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Music, and she is currently commissioned for Boon Arts Sculpture Trail 2024.
Thank you for sharing your work with us Kirsten!
Hear her music and more this Saturday Nov 18 at 7:00pm UNF Fine Arts Center
Admission is free.
