New Prints of an old painting now available…. "Bite Me" is a playful yet poignant exploration of the complex relationship between humans and the natural world, particularly our role as caretakers—or, too often, our failure to act as such. The abstract depiction of a massive whale, with its tail breaking through the ocean’s surface and a spout of water shooting into the sky, embodies the raw power and majesty of sea life. Yet, the phrase "Bite Me" scrawled across the tail adds a layer of attitude, a rebellious streak that challenges the viewer to think beyond the surface. This piece is a pun on both the literal and figurative meanings of the phrase. On one level, it reflects the whale’s defiance, a creature of the deep asserting its presence in a world where sea life is often threatened by human activity. On another, it speaks to the audacity of our consumption—our tendency to take without considering the consequences. Through this painting, I invite the viewer to contemplate their role in the stewardship of our oceans. Are we merely takers, or do we have the courage and responsibility to protect the world beneath the waves? "Bite Me" is both a call to action and a reminder that the natural world will always have the final say, whether we choose to respect it or not.

**Artist Statement: Guinea T.V.” 2013
This collage on corrugated wood interrogates the evolution of mass media's influence on the human mind from the 1960s to the present day. The piece features rows of guinea pigs, each cut out and lined up, symbolizing the masses—innocent, unaware, and easily manipulated. At the center is a television, the epicenter of global influence, with an old-school 1960s camera capturing the footage that feeds directly into the screen. This visual connection represents the cyclical nature of information dissemination: how a singular narrative, shaped and spun by those in power, is broadcast to billions around the world.
The choice of guinea pigs is deliberate, underscoring the experimental nature of media influence—how entire populations can be conditioned and controlled, much like laboratory subjects. The juxtaposition of the 1960s camera with the modern television asks viewers to reflect on the evolution of media over the decades. Has the proliferation of channels, screens, and content led to greater freedom of thought, or are we merely more deeply entrenched in a system of mental slavery, where narratives are dictated by a select few?
This work challenges the viewer to consider the effects of a globalized media landscape. Are we freer today, with access to more information than ever before? Or has this access only deepened our susceptibility to manipulation, making us unwitting guinea pigs in an ongoing experiment of mass control? The question posed is not just about the past or present, but about the future—are we truly evolving, or are we simply trading one form of mental bo***ge for another?

**Artist Statement: "Life as Kites"** "Life as Kites" is an exploration of the delicate balance between connection and individuality in the journey of love. The painting is anchored in shades of blue, symbolizing the depths of the subconscious where feelings often reside beyond our conscious grasp. The water at the bottom represents the foundation of emotions that underpin our experiences, fluid and ever-present. In this work, kites serve as a metaphor for the desire to both share a profound bond with another and maintain the freedom to soar independently. When two people come together in love, there is a need for mutual understanding and intimacy, yet also a need for personal freedom. If one partner becomes the other's anchor, holding them down, an imbalance forms, stifling growth and joy. However, when both partners can fly their kites together, each at the same level, they achieve a harmonious balance, truly living life in its fullest expression. "Life as Kites" invites the viewer to reflect on their own relationships and the balance between connection and freedom, urging us to find a way to share our journey while still allowing each other to soar.

**Artist's Statement: "Wild Kingdom"** "Wild Kingdom" is a vibrant exploration of the primal forces that govern both the natural world and the inner landscapes of the human psyche. The painting, a riot of colors and forms, invites viewers to lose themselves in its chaotic beauty, where abstract representations of animals emerge and dissolve, like fleeting memories or dreams. The work draws inspiration from the Rorschach test, challenging the viewer to find their own meaning within the swirling colors and shapes, as they catch glimpses of lions, unicorns, and other mythical creatures. The lion and the unicorn hold deep symbolic significance in ancient mythology, often representing opposing forces. The lion, with its raw power and regal presence, has long been a symbol of strength, courage, and sovereignty. In contrast, the unicorn, a creature of mystery and purity, symbolizes the unattainable, the spiritual, and the ideal. These two figures have traditionally been seen as adversaries, embodying the tension between earthly power and transcendent ideals. In the context of 2024 Western culture, these symbols take on new relevance. The lion can be seen as a representation of the aggressive pursuit of power and dominance that characterizes much of our modern world—a world driven by competition, materialism, and the desire for control. The unicorn, on the other hand, may symbolize the lost ideals of purity, innocence, and spiritual fulfillment, which feel increasingly out of reach in our fast-paced, digitally saturated society. "Wild Kingdom" thus becomes a commentary on the state of our world today, where the struggle between these forces—between power and purity, materialism and spirituality—plays out in every aspect of our lives. The abstract, expressive nature of the painting reflects the chaotic and often contradictory nature of this struggle, inviting viewers to consider how these ancient symbols resonate in their own lives. Are we, as a society, more aligned with the lion's pursuit of power, or do we still yearn for the unicorn's elusive purity? And in this wild kingdom we inhabit, is there a place where these forces can coexist in harmony, or are they forever locked in conflict? This painting, with its kaleidoscope of colors and forms, is not just a reflection of the natural world, but a mirror to our own inner worlds, where the wild kingdom within each of us continues to grapple with these timeless questions.

Swan Song 2017 Acrylic on Canvas 36" x 72" "Swansong" is a meditation on the passage of time and the contrast between the romantic ideals of classical living and the harsh realities of the modern age. The painting captures the essence of beauty, nature, and the ethereal quality of life that defined the Middle Ages—a time when the world was perceived as a delicate balance of grace and harmony. When viewed upright, the focal point is a swan, symbolizing purity and elegance, yet it appears sorrowful, almost as if it is on the brink of death. This swan represents the fading ideals of the past, as the modern world encroaches upon the beauty that once was. The sadness in the swan's eyes is a lament for what has been lost—a mournful recognition that the world it knew is no longer the same. Flipping the painting reveals a stark contrast: a fragmented memory of old Italy, a once-vibrant culture now reduced to a broken and incomplete replication. This image serves as a metaphor for the decay of classical ideals in the face of the 20th century’s relentless march toward progress and industrialization. The ruins echo the swan's sorrow, a poignant reminder that the soft, beautiful, and natural world of the past has been irrevocably altered. Through "Swansong," I seek to explore the tension between the enduring beauty of nature and the inevitable changes brought by time and human progress. The work invites the viewer to reflect on what has been gained, but more importantly, on what has been lost."

"E.M.B.R.Y.O." or Energy Moving Blood Revealing Your Onetrueself” by Kim Barry is a profound three-panel acrylic painting that captures the essence of life in its most elemental stages. First revealed in Nashville in 2019, the triptych traces the journey from s***m to embryo to a baby in the uterus, symbolizing the miracle of creation and the continuity of life. The artwork is more than a visual narrative; it is a philosophical exploration of what it means to be alive, urging viewers to reflect on the fundamental aspects of existence that are often obscured by societal debates. In the first panel, the swirling energy of s***m symbolizes the raw potential of life, a moment filled with infinite possibilities. The second panel, depicting the embryo, marks the transition from potential to reality, where life begins to take form and establish its identity. The final panel, showcasing a baby in the uterus, represents the culmination of this journey—a celebration of life in its most vulnerable yet powerful state. Barry’s use of color and form in "E.M.B.R.Y.O." is both evocative and deliberate. The vibrant hues and dynamic lines capture the energy and movement inherent in the creation of life, while the soft, nurturing tones of the final panel emphasize the sanctity and fragility of existence. In the context of American society, where discussions about life often become polarized and politicized, "E.M.B.R.Y.O.” serves as a reminder to return to the basics of what it means to be alive. It challenges viewers to consider the complexity and sanctity of life beyond the confines of societal definitions and political discourse. By celebrating the process of life from its earliest stages, Barry invites us to appreciate the intricate, delicate journey that defines our existence and to engage in deeper, more empathetic conversations about life and its value. "E.M.B.R.Y.O” is not just a painting; it is a statement about the importance of understanding life in its purest form, encouraging us to look beyond the noise of societal debates and to reconnect with the universal experience of creation and existenc

The self-portrait, rendered in a style reminiscent of old Italian enamel plasterwork, captures a delicate yet profound narrative. The youthful figure at the center, a young girl with a serene expression, embodies the essence of self containment and boundless potential. Her gaze, both tender and inquisitive, reflects a world of dreams yet to be realized—a canvas where all possibilities are still unformed and limitless. The soft, muted colors of the portrait, with their gentle cracks and textures, evoke the timelessness of youth, fragile yet enduring in memory. As one looks closer, the portrait invites introspection, a dialogue between the past and the present. The layered texture of the plaster mirrors the layers of life experience, suggesting that while the girl in the portrait is preserved in her moment of youthful optimism, the observer brings the weight of time and reflection. The portrait becomes a mirror, asking viewers to consider their own journey from the innocence of youth to the complexities of adulthood. The piece speaks to the bittersweet nature of growing older—how the dreams and possibilities once so vibrant and infinite gradually take shape or fade, influenced by the choices and experiences life brings. The portrait is not just a reflection of what was, but also a contemplation of what has become, urging the observer to reconcile their youthful aspirations with their present reality. In this interplay between past and present, the self-portrait captures the enduring spirit of youth, forever enameled in time, yet deeply enriched by the reflections of a life lived.
