The Hunter and McGee Drugstore was located at the northwest corner of Capitol and State streets. With its lavish decor and patrons in fancy headwear, it was an important part of Downtown Jackson. Co-owner J. Clyde McGee is wearing the suit. It opened in 1905 and has long since closed.

We're starting the celebration early!! The City of Jackson's flagship fireworks display celebrating Juneteenth will take place on Thursday, June 18 at the Jackson Convention Complex (105 East Pascagoula St.).

The free, family-friendly event features local food vendors, family activities, and a fireworks show at nightfall sponsored by Downtown Jackson Partners.

Time: 7:00 PM to nightfall
