My goat dreams have came true this year with our girls kidding. We got a nigerian doeling(all black one) SO sweet. I also got an all white blue eyed mini saanen doeling from my Saanen Polly. That is literally what I have always wanted. I am SO happy! 💞💕💗💓 Our Saanen Polly is nursing her baby and still giving 3 gallons from the teat the baby doesnt eat on. It is insane!!

St. Patrick’s Day trivia: How did these eggs turn green?

Most eggshells start out white. Towards the end of shell production, pigments, called porphyrins, are secreted from cells within the uterus to add color to the egg shells, depending on breed. Hens that produce eggs with white shells do not produce any of these pigments.

The hen who produced these eggs is an Olive Egger mix; therefore, genes from both of her parent breeds contributed to the unique color.

Do you have any fun colors in your egg basket?
