Museum hours are 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Tuesday–Saturday. The museum is free 11 a.m.–5 p.m. on Sundays.

The Mississippi Civil Rights Museum tells the stories of the heroic freedom struggle that took place in the state and provides a venue for all Mississippians to come together to engage in meaningful public dialogue.

Join us on Friday, June 26, at 11 a.m. in the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum for a free gallery talk about the March Against Fear. Launched by James Meredith in 1966, the March Against Fear encouraged African American voter registration during the civil rights movement. Join us for a free screening of “Caravan of Hope” at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, at the Two Mississippi Museums. This 60-minute documentary uses archival footage, photographs, and interviews to show how WDIA, the first Black-programmed radio station in the United States, raised the funds to revive the town of Mound Bayou. Following the screening, a panel conversation will feature directors Castel Sweet and Antonio Tarrell, with moderator Nina Parikh of Film Mississippi. This event is in partnership with the Mississippi Humanities Council, Mississippi Film Society, and the Mississippi Film Society.

Join us TODAY at 6 p.m. for a FREE America250 celebration of gospel music, freedom, and hope, featuring live performances, storytelling, and a community sing-along. This event, honoring oral traditions through generations of communities, will take place in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium at the Two Mississippi Museums, in partnership with the Grassroots Gospel Project. This program is part of the MDAH Religion Initiative, which is made possible by a grant through Lilly Endowment’s Religion and Cultural Institutions Initiative.
