🐾💕 NOW IT’S PORSCHA’S TURN!

Great news for this little family! Mama Lexus is heading to a home, and sister Lotus has a home lined up too. That leaves one adorable little girl still waiting for someone to choose her… Porscha! 🤎

And Porscha is ready to move into a foster-to-adopt home NOW! 🏡

Porscha is some type of bulldog mix, and seriously, how cute is that little face?! 😍 Mom Lexus is only about 35 pounds and Dad was around the same size, so while we can never guarantee adult size, we don’t anticipate Porscha being a very big girl.

Porscha would be a great match for someone looking for a lower-key companion rather than a highly active adventure dog. This type of dog is not built for long runs, strenuous exercise or lots of activity in hot weather. She’ll still need all the normal puppy play, training and enrichment, but her future family should be looking for a pup who can enjoy life at a more moderate pace. ❤️

🐶 What about another dog? Porscha really doesn’t seem to care much either way! 😂 She can certainly share her home with an appropriate dog, but having a canine sibling is not a requirement or a dealbreaker. She’s perfectly capable of being the center of someone’s world too.

Like any puppy, Porscha will need continued housebreaking, training, structure, socialization and plenty of interaction. She also needs appropriate downtime and cannot be crated for long stretches at this age.

She has age-appropriate vaccines and will remain under Pitties & Pals while she completes the remainder of her required vetting.

We prefer homes within approximately 60 minutes of Jackson, NJ, but since Porscha is currently being fostered in Northern New Jersey, we will consider homes farther north as well.

Mama has a home. Sister has a home. Now it’s Porscha’s turn! 🥹💕 Who’s going to scoop up this little girl?

We’re heading to Asbury Park! Come hang out with Pitties & Pals Rescue at Porta for an afternoon filled with pizza, and some very deserving pups looking for their forever families.

🚨 URGENT FOSTERS NEEDED — MOM + 3 PUPPIES! 🚨

We were contacted about a young mama and her three 8 week old puppies who need our help. Their family’s circumstances have unexpectedly changed, and now we’re trying to get this little crew somewhere safe. ❤️

The puppies are two females and one male, and ideally we would LOVE to find one foster home willing to take all three, even if it’s only for about two weeks while we get them settled, start their vetting and figure out their next steps. If that’s not possible, we can also consider separating them into individual foster or foster to adopt homes.

Because they’re still so young, their setup will look a little different than an older puppy. They’ll need a puppy safe pen/den area, appropriate crating, frequent potty breaks and, of course, all the usual puppy training, socialization and structure. 🐶🐶🐶

And we can’t forget Mom! She is approximately 1 year old and also needs a foster or foster to adopt home. We have NOT met or evaluated her yet, so everything we know is based on information provided by the family. They describe her as friendly and affectionate, raised around other dogs and having lived with a cat.

The puppies have not received vaccines yet, so Pitties and Pals will get their vetting started.

Even a two week commitment for these babies could be exactly what we need to get them into rescue and onto their next chapter. ❤️

❤️ MAJOR IS READY FOR HIS FOREVER HOME! ❤️

Major finished training, and when no one stepped up to adopt him, our amazing volunteer Nicole welcomed him into her home temporarily so he wouldn’t have to return to the kennel. ❤️

Since then, she’s been giving him all kinds of new experiences, and he is making us SO proud.

Major even went on a family camping trip and did fantastic! 🏕️ He also attended an event wearing his vest, which lets people know to give him some space, and he handled everything beautifully.

That’s really what Major needs in his person: someone who will advocate for him when he gets nervous and help him feel safe. When he has that, he does incredibly well. ❤️

Major is housebroken, crate trained, affectionate, fun and loves walks, playing outside and being part of a family.

❤️ THE FIRST FEW DAYS CAN BE MESSY.

We talk a lot about the exciting part of bringing a foster or newly adopted dog home. The freedom ride. The new collar. That first picture when they finally arrive.

But can we talk about the part that isn’t quite as cute? 😂

Sometimes those first few days are MESSY.

Take little Tootsie Roll, for example.

When she came home with us, we knew housebreaking was going to need some work. What we didn’t know was just how confused she was about where she was supposed to go.

We walked. We waited. We walked some more.

Nothing.

Then she would go back into her crate and immediately p*e or p**p. 🤦‍♀️ We would clean everything up, head back outside and try all over again.

It would have been really easy to think, Oh boy. This is going to be a problem.

But here’s the thing: the first few days are not always the dog you’re going to have.

A dog coming into a new home has just had their entire world turned upside down. New people. New smells. New sounds. New expectations. They don’t know your routine yet, and you don’t know theirs.

So we kept it simple. Outside frequently. Same routine. Lots of opportunities to get it right. Calm praise when she did. No big production when she didn’t.

And today?

This little girl has been pottying outside like a champ. 🙌 She’s settling beautifully, doing great around the other dogs and showing us more and more of who she really is.

Was the beginning frustrating? Absolutely. 😂

Was it worth giving her a little time to figure things out? 100%.

So if you bring home a foster or newly adopted dog and those first few days feel chaotic, don’t panic. Give them some grace. Give yourself some grace. Keep things small, predictable and consistent.

Sometimes you’re not seeing a “problem dog.”

You’re just seeing a dog who hasn’t figured out yet that they’re home. ❤️🐾

💙 ADOPT MAURICE! 💙

Can we take a moment for Maurice in his bow tie?! 😍🎀 This handsome guy cleans up pretty well!

Maurice is about 3 years old, a sturdy, handsome boy who is getting a taste of the good life in a home and absolutely loving it. And the more we get to know him outside of a kennel environment, the more personality we get to see.

Maurice is the kind of guy who is pretty much up for whatever you have planned. Want to head out for a walk? He’s ready. Want to hang outside and enjoy the day? Sounds good to him. Ready to head inside and relax? Maurice is happy to do that too. ❤️

He enjoys being with his people and being included in everyday life. He’s playful, affectionate and definitely knows how to have a good time. Maurice can play HARD when he gets going 😂, so one of the things he’s working on is learning his “off button” and understanding when it’s time to settle, relax and unwind. He’s making progress and doing really well with the structure and routine of home life.

And he already has some pretty important skills under his belt:

🐾 Enjoys his walks
🌳 Happy hanging outside
🛋️ Learning to settle and relax inside
❤️ Loves spending time with his people
🎓 Doing well with structure, routine and guidance

Maurice would do best in an adult home with people who will continue giving him the consistency and structure that are helping him thrive. He is looking to be your one-and-only pet, which just means he gets to keep all of your attention for himself. 😉

Maurice is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He’s ready for someone who wants a fun, loyal companion to share walks, lazy afternoons, backyard hangs and everything in between.

He’s already learning how great it feels to be part of a home.

Now he just needs one that’s his forever. 💙🐾
