Our 2nd graders had a crab-tastic time making a fun crab snack this week! 🦀 As part of their summer school learning, they are exploring ocean animals and discovering all kinds of interesting facts about life under the sea. Learning is even more fun when you can get creative and enjoy a tasty treat too! 🌊🐚😊

Sometimes the garbage truck can be more entertaining than recess games! 🚛😆 The excitement on the playground came to a complete stop when the students spotted it rolling in!

First day of summer school = SUCCESS! ☀️📚 Our students jumped right in today with smiles, learning, and lots of fun! We’re excited for an awesome summer school session ahead!

The Coach and Mrs. Litz fishing experience happened this past weekend. Camden was able to invite a couple friends on the trip. This group started with a fun jeep ride through town and on the farm. The boys swam in the creek, caught minnows, and skipped rocks. Coach grilled burgers, brats, and corn on the cob. They spent the last several hours fishing. They caught 3 large catfish, 3 large mouth bass, and several crappie and blue gill. Coach and Mrs. Litz filleted the fish for Camden and his family to eat for dinner. It may have sprinkled but no one could rain on this parade. So much fun!

🦋Every year, our second grade classes study pollination and learn about the importance of butterflies and other pollinators. Over the last few weeks, students were able to watch caterpillars turn into butterflies. Thank you to the JR2 Foundation for awarding teaching grants that enhance student learning.

South Elementary Play Day was a success! Thank you to our staff and PTO for making this a great day for our students!

Our 4th graders have officially entered the “too cool for elementary school” phase! 😎🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ As they wrap up their final days at South Elementary, the halls have been filled with extra energy, big laughs, happy memories, and LOTS of running feet as they ran the halls today!

These students have grown so much over the years, and we are so proud of the amazing young people they’ve become. Middle school better get ready… this crew is coming in HOT! 🔥💙💛

Today we celebrated our two retirees, Mrs. Cathy Tanner and Mrs. Janet Roth! Our students and staff sure showed them the love today. With this being their last week of school — EVER — we honored them with a special clap out as they walked the halls lined with cheering students and staff.

These two ladies have made a difference at South Elementary through their kindness, hard work, and care for our students each and every day. We are so thankful for the impact they’ve had on our school family and wish them both a retirement filled with relaxation, fun, and time with loved ones. 💕💐

Ms. Carter’s class had a “read and feed” this afternoon to celebrate their reading progress this year! Way to go 2nd grade!

We had lots of help this week with so many principal apprentices! They all worked hard and helped spread some positive vibes through South Elementary!!! Way to go Gannon, Jude, Theo, Reid, Ben, & Hudson!!!
