The Jackson Generals were founded in 1998 as the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx. The team was a Cubs' affiliate up until 2007. The Diamond Jaxx won their first Southern League title in 2000. After going 80-58 in the regular season, the team went on to win the championship over the Jacksonville Suns. The 2000 team featured future MLB players Carlos Zambrano and Corey Patterson.
