Happy Food Waste Prevention Week! This week, Hole Food Rescue is joining partner organizations across the country to bring more awareness to food waste and its solutions.

Did you know that 40% of all food produced in the U.S. goes to waste? Food in landfills breaks down slowly and releases methane, a greenhouse gas 86 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

At Hole Food Rescue, we believe that reducing food waste and rescuing food is one of the most effective actions we can take to fight climate change.

This week, join us in thinking about some simple shifts you can make to reduce your food waste at home.

In August, we gathered for a summer picnic to celebrate the incredible people who make Hole Food Rescue’s work possible each and every day.

We’re so grateful for our 300+ volunteers who give so much to our community!

Our Sprout Summer Lunch Program provide free lunches to kids throughout the summer, while Sprout Weekend Food Bags share groceries with 120+ local families each week during the school year. Together, these programs help local kids get the food they need!

Hole Food Rescue will be closed on Monday, September 7. This means the HFR Timbers FFC program will be cancelled. All programs will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

Every week, Hole Food Rescue provides free groceries to more than 500 people at nine distribution sites throughout Jackson.

Our Food for the Community programs are open to anyone, no questions asked, because we believe everyone should have access to enough food.
