The newspaper has changed names over the years, but has always remained family and locally owned.

Welcome to Jackson Coach!

Born in Ghana and raised in Chicago, Coach Kweku Arkorful’s football journey took him from walk-on to scholarship athlete at Southeast Missouri State University, where he helped the Redhawks capture the 2010 OVC Championship.

After his playing career, Coach Kweku dedicated himself to developing young people through leadership, mentorship, and community involvement, including helping co-found the Honorable Young Men Club in Cape Girardeau.

We are excited to welcome Coach Kweku to Jackson Football, where his passion for developing athletes and young men will make an immediate impact both on and off the field.

Water Service Update – Wednesday, June 10, 2026, 4:05 p.m.

The precautionary boil water advisory for the affected service area in Jackson has been lifted.

Water quality test results confirmed that no contamination occurred, and the water is safe for normal use.

⚠️ PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER ADVISORY ⚠️

The City of Jackson has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for the following areas:

• Otto Drive from Donna Drive to Old Cape Road
• Old Cape Road from Otto Drive to Donna Drive
• Charlotte Court
• Donna Drive from Old Cape Road to East Jackson Boulevard

The advisory was issued as a precaution following an emergency water main repair at Otto Drive and Old Cape Road. City crews have completed the repair, and all affected properties are back in service.

A boil water advisory is issued when there is concern that a problem with drinking water may exist, although contamination has not been confirmed. These advisories are issued strictly as a precaution and are commonly associated with water main breaks or other low-pressure events.

The advisory will remain in effect until further notice. Updates, including notification when the advisory is lifted, will be shared as information becomes available.
