CLASSES COMING SPRING 2026
06/12/2026
2 spots available in the 12pm class & 2 spots available in the 3pm class! You can sign up at —> www.mercurialthreads.art or check the ⛓️💥 in my bi0 ‼️
This class is BYO garment or fabric - a t shirt or dress or square yard size would be best!
Please make sure the fiber content is cellulose (cotton, linen, rayon, modal, h**p, bamboo, etc). Synthetic fibers WILL NOT dye. Ask if you have any questions!
In this class we will learn how to fold and bind a geode pattern into the garment of your choice! We will dye the fabric with an ice melt technique that creates an incredible watercolor wash of pigments. There will be a short lecture to share the techniques and supplies needed to take this craft out of the classroom and into practice in your own space. You’ll agree to come back Tuesday or Wednesday to wash out your piece in the studio then take home… All supplies provided other than your fabric!
$45 ⭐️ more information on the registration page!

Swipe to see some happy students who attended my Wednesday BYO garment to dye class! 🌀🌈💦
Next drop in class is tomorrow, June 3rd, from 4-7. After tomorrow, I’m going to change the class to registration only so I can make sure I have enough space and time between groups! But if you plan to come tomorrow - shoot me a message and let me know what time, please!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
- This will be a basics drop in class with minimal guidance where we will be using rubber bands as resists and liquid/bottle application in your choice of colors!
- $15 + Pricing is dependant on size of garment. Base price of $15 is for t-shirt size. If you have two kids shirts or a pack of socks, that works for the $15 price, too.
- Garments must be of plant based fiber: cotton, linen, bamboo, h**p, rayon, vicose, modal, lyocell, are all welcome.
- If there is more than 20% of any synthetic fiber, we cannot dye your garment.
- Please wash your garment before class!
- Please give yourself about an hour.
- Last drop-in’s are welcome at 6:15pm.
- Project will be rinsed at home after 24 hours.
- All other supplies/instructions are provided!
- Family friendly! Parents must be hands on with their children.
- class is located in the fiber & dye studio on the first floor of Art 634 - 634 n mechanic st. Jackson, MI

Yesterday’s small indigo dyeing class was such a joy! 🌿💙 These students were so attentive with questions and curiosity, and took such great care of the vats we built together. I am looking forward to more of these workshops - building fructose vats from scratch and dyeing with them all within three hours - as well as creating drop in indigo sessions (probably come late summer?) where you can just come in, tie up your piece, and get a couple dips in for a cheaper price.
Next indigo dyeing workshops are 6/16, 7/11, & 7/12! 🌀
You can sign up on my website: www.mercurialthreads.art
Of course, I didn’t take any pictures of the process. I’m too engaged to pull my phone out, tho I know it would benefit me to have documentation. I’ll be reviving these vats later this week, so maybe I’ll capture some content for yall then. Keeping up with social media is not a top priority for me lately, so I do really appreciate it when y’all engage with me here. 💙

Just a couple weeks before diving into a reverse dye workshop where students will each get 4 black bandanas to play with shibori patterns… & the next day is more play with ice dyeing - this time we’re tying up geodes onto a garment of your choice!
Swipe —> for another flyer & check out my website for more details and registration. Hope you can make it!

Next round of classes are open for registration 🌀

There’s still one spot available in this Sunday’s (May 31st) indigo dyeing workshop, too. I replaced the kitchen scrap dyeing class with this one because I wasn’t getting any feedback. Thinking it’s gonna be an indigo summer! 🌿
p.s. I am still figuring out the logistics of a drop in indigo set up. These workshops are instead, intensives on how to make your own vat and BYO garment to dye with a variety of Shibori patterns to choose from. For those who wanna learn hands on how to make a vat, not just coming to dip your garment! 💙
