Scoliosis Myth vs. Fact! Let’s clear up some major misconceptions.
MYTH: Scoliosis is caused by heavy backpacks or poor posture.
FACT: The most common form (Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis) has no known cause and is largely genetic.
MYTH: If you have scoliosis, you have to stop playing sports.”
FACT: No. In fact, staying active is highly encouraged! Exercise helps build the core and back muscles needed to support your spine. While some high-impact or unbalanced sports require caution, most athletes with scoliosis can continue playing.

Patterson Physical Therapy is so excited to share that Susan Hodges PT new book, Me, My Cat and a Piano, is officially available! This is her personal memoir; a journey toward wholeness. For years, she lived as a "glue-holder"—the one trying to keep a fragile house together while staying silent and self-sufficient in the face of an abusive marriage.
But this book is about what happens when that house finally breaks open. It’s the story of how she stopped people-pleasing to "save face" and started finding the courage to face myself. Today, She lives with a new kind of freedom—independent, boundaried, and finally, her authentically self.
Susan write: "If you’ve ever felt shattered or silenced, I hope my story reminds you that clarity and courage are always within reach." Support Susan and check out her story.
