Join our studio on April 17th at 7:00PM for a night of rapid-fire art talks from local creators, complete with drinks from and and some delicious made-to-order gourmet hot dogs from provided by us!

We at Duvall Decker seek to foster a space for the community to share ideas, stories, and experiences. Concrete Studio is a space where we gather twice a year to celebrate people, art, and our thriving community. In short, we want to highlight cool people who do cool things! Concrete Studio’s storytelling platform explores inspiration, from people to places, to culture and movements, all right in our own backyard.

We’ll be joined by eight creators to hear their stories about life and art using only 20 images, where each image will be on screen for 20 seconds. Twenty images, twenty seconds each, that’s it. Think of it as a quick-paced rapid-fire story that keeps everyone engaged (and they only speak for less than 7 minutes!). We value what our speakers contribute to the place we call home and are so excited to hear their stories!

We will set up right outside our studio in Fondren, so don’t forget your chairs! This community event is free to the public, and all are welcome. See y’all there!

The community studio is back! Please join us once again for our Spring Concrete Studio on April 17th at 7:00PM for inspiring talks on life and art from some of our favorite local creatives. For those of you who are new to our community, twice a year we bring a collective of creators doing cool things in our city together to each tell a story of their choosing using only 20 images, each image auto-advancing after 20 seconds. 20 images, 20 seconds each, that’s it. These are quick-paced, rapid-fire art talks designed to keep everyone engaged. We get to learn a thing or two about a new topic and have fun doing it over delicious food and drinks.

We’d like to introduce and welcome our newest member to the Duvall Decker team!

Swayze Rawlings is a Jackson, Mississippi native who provides the Duvall Decker team with a technical foundation in drawing, coordination, and patient communication. Swayze practices with a well of inspiration for place and a spirit of generosity. Living away from Mississippi for a short interim gave Swayze a renewed respect for home, rich landscape, and southern stories. Swayze joins the Duvall Decker team with a deep sense of commitment to the growth of Jackson and its surrounding communities.

2025 was an unforgettable year for the Duvall Decker team.

Several projects moved into construction—including our new mixed-use development that will soon house our office—and many others reached completion, such as Pecan Park Elementary in the Jackson Public Schools Renovations program. We were honored to participate in a range of significant events: the A South Forty Exhibition; Rural Studio’s 30th Anniversary Lectures and Workshops Series; and the Architectural League of New York’s Current Voices Series, where Anne Marie Duvall Decker, FAIA, and Roy Decker, FAIA, both lectured. Anne Marie also served on this year’s Architect’s Newspaper Awards jury, and Roy presented at the 2025 National AIA Conference in Boston on Designing Resilience in Rural Communities.

Our firm was selected as a finalist for PORCH: An Architecture of Generosity, the U.S. Pavilion exhibition at the Venice Architecture Biennale. As part of this milestone, we were honored to be interviewed by The New York Times. With the release of our debut book, Foundations, we enjoyed several national book signings, including a joint signing and lecture with Space.City Seattle and Peter Miller. This year, we also welcomed Ethan Thomas, Angie Ward, and Roderick Williams to the studio. Locally, we hosted our semi-annual Concrete Studio nights, continuing our tradition of gathering and learning from inspiring creators across Mississippi.

And to close the year on a high note, our firm was profoundly honored to be named the 2026 AIA Architecture Firm Award recipient. We are humbled, grateful, and more motivated than ever to continue this good work.

Angie Ward is our Executive/Administrative Assistant who helps develop, implement, and maintain administrative and executive systems, procedures, and policies. Angie is responsible for promoting the successful development and business operations of Duvall Decker’s expanded practice. Reliable, positive, and a researcher at heart, Angie is adept at anticipating the daily and ongoing needs of the firm to further drive studio productivity.
