June 2026 is shaping up to be the "Summer of the Reroute" in Grand Teton National Park. As the park gears up for its centennial, several major projects are kicking off that will significantly change how you access your favorite trailheads.
If youâre heading out this week, here is the report on how to navigate the construction:
1. The Moose-Wilson Road Closure â The most critical update: the Moose-Wilson Roadâthe primary artery between Wilson/Teton Village and the Parkâis scheduled to be closed until June 20. If you're staying on the West Bank, youâll need to reroute through the town of Jackson to enter at the Moose or Moran gates. Plan for an extra 45â60 minutes of travel time!
2. Trailhead Status đĽž
âDeath Canyon: The road and trailhead are slated for a full-season closure.
âTaggart Lake: The main northern trail is under reconstruction. You can still reach the lake, but youâll need to use the longer southern route (approx. 5 miles round-trip).
Delta Lake: Work begins this month to formalize the social trailsâexpect crews on-site if youâre making the scramble.
3. The Silver Lining ⨠While the south end is busy, the northern park (Colter Bay) remains wide open and is the best place to escape the congestion.
Save this post for your June planning!
Name something better... we'll wait.

If youâve been waiting for the iconic Teton "Yellow Carpets," your window is officially here. đď¸đź
Hillsides have fully transitioned from early spring buds to the show-stopping Arrowleaf Balsamroot and Lupine. If youâre heading out this weekend, these are the three spots peaking right now:
1. Munger Mountain: The south-facing slopes are currently a sea of gold. Itâs the quintessential spring hike.
2. Cache Creek: Perfect for a quick lunch-break loop to see the first purple Lupine mixing in with the Balsamroot.
3. Snow King: If you don't mind the vertical, the "backside" trails are offering some of the best color in the valley this week.
Scoutâs Note: take only photos, leave only footprints. đ¸đŁ
