From peaceful walks to famous talks, from hands-on fun to genealogical research, there's so much to see and do along the Discovery Trail. These eight fascinating sites are an easy drive from downtown Ithaca, Cornell University, Ithaca College, Cayuga Lake and other Finger Lakes attractions. The only organization of its kind, the Discovery Trail promotes awareness and understanding of the connections among art, history, literature, science, and the natural world.

Fifth graders Ithaca City School District from Fall Creek are participating in "Exploring Biodiversity" at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. When on the Sapsucker Woods trails they use their eyes and ears as well as binoculars, field guides, and sound analysis tools. They are broken into "teams" such as the Red-Winged Blackbird!

First graders from Northeast and Belle Sherman Ithaca City School District are exploring rocks and fossils (and their differences) at Museum of the Earth at the Paleontological Research Institution. Under the North Atlantic Right Whale skeleton they also learn about tools used by paleontologists! Discovery Trail Ithaca Public Education Initiative (IPEI)

Northeast Elementary School Ithaca City School District third graders had a great spring weather day on Monday to walk the Mundy Wildflower Trail at the Cornell Botanic Gardens observing the emerging wildflowers along Fall Creek. When Caroline and Belle Sherman Ithaca City School Districtsecond graders visited Sciencenter together for "Power the Future", they also had the opportunity to experience the featured exhibit "Building Buddies".
