Apple has had relatively few serious safety issues with their products but it's worth checking and having the appropriate repairs done by Apple if your computer, device or accessory is affected by an issue. In particular there have been reports and we have heard of a local case of 15" MacBook Pro Retina laptops catching on fire. If you have this size and model you can check your serial number on Apple's support page for the issue to see if your computer is covered by this recall.
"Apple has determined that, in a limited number of older generation 15-inch MacBook Pro units, the battery may overheat and pose a fire safety risk. Affected units were sold primarily between September 2015 and February 2017 and product eligibility is determined by the product serial number."

Due to the situation with COVID-19 in person appointments will not be available indefinitely but free phone support will be extended beyond the ~15 minutes we normally offer in order to help people switch to using their computer for remote activities and to keep their machines running well during this time when they will be even more relied on.
If you have questions or issues please call 607-277-4176 (note: this is not a cell phone and texts do NOT go through nor give an error.)
More complex software issues may be handled through screen sharing and some physical repairs may be possible without an in person appointment by contactless drop off and pick up.
