All DMV offices across New York State closing for an upgrade this weekend All Department of Motor Vehicles offices across New York State will be closed for a long holiday weekend, including the Tompkins County DMV office on Ithaca's northside, for a systems upgrade DMV officials say will be "sort of like converting a narrow, dirt road into a smooth, multi-lane highway."

This is a reminder that starting February 16, some traffic violations will carry increase point values as part of New York's efforts to keep persistently dangerous drivers off the road and make those roads safer for other drivers, passengers and pedestrians.
