I spent Friday afternoon with the amazing early childhood educators at the Cornell Child Care Center leading a training on Self-Care through Transitions. We explored how we carry burdens and small steps for treating ourselves with kindness when navigating the extra work that comes with transitions. It was a great afternoon! Thanks for having me!

The best things in life aren't things.

Micro-decluttering tasks are quick and make a difference. Especially if they are in high-traffic areas like ultility drawers, medicine cabinets, and entrance ways– anywhere you have multiple touchpoint each day.
Small improvements will have an outsized impact and help you stay motivated to keep going!

When you are jazzed to get started on a decluttering project it can be tempting to skip right over the "reduce" step and start organizing. However, you'll end up hanging on to more to items than you need to, and perhaps using more space too. Reduce first and then start your categorizing.

Clutter ❤️ Clutter and routine tiny tidy-ups help you stay ahead of growing . Having a drawer or file where mail and papers go before they are sorted weekly is a great way to help keep surfaces clear. Baskets in each room to contain out-of-place items until they can be organized helps tame the clutter too!

Those piles that you Don't Organize Only Move (DOOM) are created with the intent that things will be filed and put in their place but it doesn't always go that way. And understandably, when you are pulled in too many directions and stretched too thin something has to give. The NYTimes article shines light on the recent attention and depression rooms have been getting as there is less silence around mental health and how it is impacts and part of our daily life.
