It’s important that *you* get out and vote. Tuesday June 24 is your last chance to cast your ballot.

Workers United members have been powerful organizers in Ithaca, and Jorge is grateful for the union's support. When they organized Ithaca's three Starbucks stores, the corporate leadership retaliated against them to try to make an example. Jorge helped them get their case heard by the federal labor board and they won (though Starbucks' delays and appeals are dragging on). With the National Labor Relations Board weakened under Trump, Jorge has a proposal for enforcement against retaliation and discrimination at the local level.

Jorge's been endorsed by three current members of Common Council: Ducson Nguyen (2nd Ward) and both of the current 1st Ward Alderpersons, Phoebe Brown and Kayla Matos.

Two county legislators have endorsed Jorge's campaign for Common Council: Travis Brooks and Veronica Pillar! Collaboration and shared goals between the city and the county help us provide better governance, and Jorge's ready to get to work together.

Jorge is honored and grateful to have the support of Mayor Cantelmo to represent Ward 1. Robert has been a tireless progressive leader on Council. Together, they're going to build more housing & fight for tenant rights!

Both current Ward 1 Alderpersons endorse Jorge DeFendini for Common Council! Kayla Sky Phoebe Brown

Planned Parenthood Greater NY Votes PAC endorsed Jorge because he has a very strong record on reproductive rights, and he worked with PPGNY to make Ithaca a sanctuary for gender affirming healthcare! As the right wing pushes forward anti-trans laws, Ithaca will resist these hateful policies because of Jorge's leadership, giving trans folks and healthcare providers protection.

Jorge is a member of IUPAT District Council 4 and proud to have their endorsement! In Jorge's day job, he works to improve workplace safety. Every worker deserves to get home safe at the end of the workday — something trades unions like IUPAT help set standards for to protect their members.

That’s all for petitioning?? We wrapped up signature collection for Jorge for Ward 1 today and are turning in hundreds of signatures this week! We’re so glad to have talked to so many voters in Ward 1 and will be back for more conversations over the next couple months. Plus, it’s fun when you’re working with a great team and talking to kind neighbors. Want to get involved? Let us know in the comments.

Before and after pictures from our canvass where we gathered enough signatures to get on the ballot for Jorge in Ward 1! But we’re still going to be out collecting because we want to have as many conversations as possible with our neighbors!

Ithaca is considering moving forward on reparations for Black Ithacans by studying anti-Black racism in Ithaca and providing recommendations for how to address it! This research will not only help uncover and build the case for why reparations are needed, but help the city develop a plan to repair centuries of racist harm. Email council today in support!
