A simple white flag with a color band that represents all that we humans have in common despite--and in addition to--our many celebrated human differences. No.

It is designed to update the world's symbolic landscape, honoring our human interconnectedness. What does Companion Flag stand for? The Companion Flag stands for everything that is done, held, known, or experienced in common by human beings, notwithstanding their differences. It is the first such symbol of its kind: an open and perpetual acknowledgment of the sameness and shared experiences of peo

I was grateful for the opportunity to share our successes with the Seattle-Tashkent (Uzbekistan) Sister Cities Association this fall.

The flags of Ghana (R) and England (L), each hosting the Companion Flag -- an accompaniment or partnership/completion symbol (possibly the first of its kind in human history*) that stands as a daily reminder of all that we humans have in common throughout our lives even with our many differences.

*I'm not a historian or anthropologist. I'm unaware of any such symbols in the past, but that doesn't mean that none existed. If anyone knows of other symbols, past or present, meant to foreground and perpetuate collective awareness and respect for our human "samenesses" full stop, without over-shadowing, denigrating in any way, or even speaking to our human differences, please let me know! (If you think some of your friends or colleagues might know, please share.)

I should have ironed these flags, but ran out of time. I'll let the wind do it! 😀 Ukraine on the left, Greece on the right, each with its Companion Flag (celebrating and honoring all that we humans have, and exoerience, in common even with our differences).

Imagine it, a world where entire generations from, say, age 6 to 10 on, simply take it for granted that in order to see any person or group of people completely and adequately ahead of our own intentional actions means to bring to present awareness, not just their salient human differences -- the stuff our ancient animal brains evolved to focus on first and foremost every time (without our conscious awareness or input) -- but one or more of their "human samenesses," as well? For example:

"This person wants to be accepted by others just as they are, and treated with honesty and respect."

"This person, like all people with normal mental health, is concerned for the safety and happiness of his, her, or their loved ones."

"This person, at the core of his, her, or their being, wants to feel safe and 'at home' in the world -- just as I do, and just as every person around the globe does."

ETC.
