For nearly two decades, Tavon has empowered adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) through nature-based learning 🌸, community experiences 🌇, and individualized support 👭 in ways no other local program replicates. We’re searching for our next Executive Director to lead a respected organization that members thrive in, families depend on, staff are proud of, and peers admire.

☀️🧴 Yesterday may have been National Sunscreen Day, but at Tavon Learning Center, we celebrate sun safety every day! 💛

Our members spend lots of time learning, playing, and exploring outdoors—so protecting our skin is always a top priority. From applying sunscreen to wearing hats and staying hydrated, we make sure everyone is safe while enjoying the sunshine. 🌈🌿

From dancing in the sunshine to discovering new cultures, our crew had the BEST time at the Northwest Folklife Festival at Seattle Center 💃🏾🌍

We watched incredible performances, got creative doodling in the Makers' Space 🎨, and explored music, art, food, and traditions from communities across the Pacific Northwest. This festival brings together thousands of artists and cultural voices each year to celebrate connection, creativity, and heritage 💛

This year’s theme, Ubuntu- “I am because we are”- reminded us that joy grows when we share it. And that’s exactly what Tavon did all weekend 🙌🏾

Getting our hands in the dirt almost every day 🌱💚

At Tavon, this is what it’s all about. Learning through nature, growing together, and making sure adults with IDD have equal access to the outdoors and the joy it brings.

Our garden is more than just soil… it’s a place for connection, growth, and pride in the work our members do every day 🌼

Fun fact: there’s actually a naturally occurring soil bacteria (called Mycobacterium vaccae) that’s been shown to stimulate serotonin, the “feel good” chemical in the brain, helping boost mood and reduce stress. So yes… getting a little dirty can literally make you happier 😊

And honestly, we see the proof of that firsthand every single day.

Tavon members have been loving the Outdoors For All Adaptive Cycling Center — soaking up sunshine, fresh air, and the freedom of the open path 💙💚

There’s something special about cruising along the lake, feeling the breeze, and sharing laughs with friends. Big smiles, big wheels, and even bigger moments! 🙌

And if you’re strolling the paths of Lake Sammamish and suddenly hear a joyful crew rolling up behind you… don’t worry — it’s just a gang of Tavon members here to rob you of your stress, steal your worries, and leave you with nothing but smiles 😄✨

On May 8th, our Tavon Learning Center community came together for an incredible auction — and thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we raised over $406,000! 💛

We’re deeply grateful to our amazing community partners — Lens of Youth, Kids Coming Together, Clipped Wings, and Project CliKK — and to the Tavon families, staff, and volunteers who made the night run so smoothly.

A special thank you to Matt Lorch for bringing unmatched energy as our auctioneer and helping make the evening such a success! 🎤

And most of all, thank you to Therese, the reason we were all gathered together. Your impact continues to inspire us all.

Last week, our members had an amazing time getting active with Evan at Confluence Park.

From moving our bodies to sharing lots of laughs, it was a great reminder that exercise is way more fun when you’re doing it together.

We’re so proud of our members and staff for showing up, supporting one another, and enjoying every minute of it!

Last Friday, our members took a trip to the Pacific Science Center, where curiosity led the way and hands‑on learning stole the show.

From interactive exhibits to big “aha!” moments, it was exciting to see our members minds light up.

You could say the experience was science‑sational 👀🧠
