"Timber Ridge at Talus is a progressive care facility and is located on Cougar Mountain and overlooks downtown Issaquah and the Cascade Mountains. After visiting and researching different retirement communities on the eastside and Seattle areas, Timber Ridge quickly stood out among them all on our first visit. The community is beautifully designed and decorated, meticulously maintained, and has a welcoming, friendly environment.

Several things that helped to make this community desirable for my mother and our family is that it provides all levels of care – from independent living to assisted living, memory care and hospice. Once my mother started to decline in health, we didn’t want to move her to another facility, which was the case in many communities we looked at. She has had to make several changes and each time, staff members were very helpful in accommodating and making her adjustment as easy as possible.

Timber Ridge has quite a variety of independent living units that range in size, a variety of floor plans to pick from, and are in beautiful condition. My mother was able to select the carpet, counter tops and paint colors for her unit, so it felt like home to her when she moved in.

This community has a lot to offer and some of the amenities include: beauty shop, a pool, workout room, library, movie theater, meeting areas, arts and crafts room, car service for those who are unable to drive, grab and go food counter, as well as a wonderful café and full-service dining room. We have often had family gatherings for holidays and meals in the dining room, where residents can make reservations ahead of time for groups. I’ve been impressed with the wide selection of items on their menus and have enjoyed many meals in the dining room and café.

My mother purchased a unit in 2018 and since then, I’ve been extremely impressed with the friendly, dedicated staff and love that they address their residents by name as they see them in the hallways or community areas.

Staff members do a great job of communicating via newsletters, emails, and calls if there are any concerns, so I feel my mother gets wonderful care and I’m aware of what’s going on. Now that she is in assisted living, I’m so impressed with the staff and caregivers that take care of her and the other residents each day. They are often one on one with them in the dining room, playing cards or an activity, visiting, etc.

There are multiple activities going on each day, some including musical groups, speakers, bridge groups, BINGO, gardening, arts and crafts, etc. I knew it was a good sign when I called my mother one day to visit and she said she was too busy with too many activities that day!

It’s apparent that residents are comfortable and happy to be there. I’ve grown to know many of them over the years and have never heard a negative comment about the facility or staff members, unlike some of my friends who have parents or friends in other communities.

After several years of looking for just the “right” community, my mother, other family members and I agree that she ended up in the best place imaginable!"
