Check out what’s happening at the Irwindale Public Library this week from June 22 through June 27!

This week is the 2nd week of the 2026 Summer Reading Program! Don’t forget to return before the end of this week (Saturday, June 27, 4pm) to redeem your reward for Week 2 of reading. Haven’t joined the Summer Reading Program? It is not too late! Stop by the Irwindale Public Library to pick up a reading log. This program is open to all ages.

Monday, June 22:
- 9am-11am | Summer Accelerated Reader (for Covina-Valley Unified School elementary students)
- 4pm | Mad Science Monday: Power Up Edition (for children ages 6-11 who have registered for this event; sign-ups begin today for next week’s workshop)

- 2pm | Family Storytime (all ages)

Wednesday, June 24:

Join us this summer for a series of Family Friendly Performances and Events hosted by the Irwindale Public Library as part of our 2026 Summer Reading Program. No registration is required.

June 18 – Chazz’s Drum Circle
This highly-interactive program of drumming and rhythm is tailored specifically for young imaginations to explore the wonderful world of percussion

June 25 – Ranger Jack
Singer/songwriter "Ranger Jack" engages his audience with a fun, educational, and interactive performance of children's songs and interactive puppets.

July 9 – Cool Critters Show
The Mobile Zoo of Southern California presentation features an exotic mix of furry, feathered, and scaly critters for animal lovers to enjoy.

July 16 – EyeVentures Optical Illusion Show
A carefully curated collection of Adventures for your Eyes! Think of it as “storytelling with a twist!”

July 23 – Bingo Finale
Celebrate the end of our Summer Reading Program with BINGO! Win prizes and enjoy treats.

This summer, kids, ages 6-11, are invited to participate in our Mad Science Monday workshops at the Irwindale Public Library! Sign-ups are required and begin one week prior to each workshop. Guardian must be present to sign-up child. Please visit the Library in person to register your child for these fun, interactive, STEM workshops!

June 22 - Power Up Edition - Learn the basics of circuits and electricity. Build your own battery powered paper fan. (Sign-ups begin Monday, June 15)

June 29 - Bright Ideas Edition - Learn about the science of light. Build your own fiber optic lamp. (Sign-ups begin Monday, June 22)

July 6 - Rocket Power Edition - Learn the science behind propulsion. Build and race a balloon rocket. (Sign-ups begin Monday, June 29)

July 13 - Ecosystems Edition - Learn how plants interact with their environment. Build your own mini garden. (Sign-ups begin Monday, July 6)

The deadline for the Art and Writing Contest for City of Irwindale residents in grades Tk-12th has been extended to Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 4 PM! First prize is a $100 gift card.

As our country celebrates 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, think about what makes the United States special to you. Create a poem, write an essay, draw a picture, or design a collage that imagines what our country might look like 50 years form now. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes available for each grade category: Tk-1st, 2nd-3rd, 4th-5th, 6th-8th and 9th-12th. Pick up an application at the Irwindale Public Library. Winners will be announced Thursday, July 2nd, at the Music in the Park event from 7pm-9pm

El plazo para el concurso de arte y escritura para los residentes de la ciudad de Irwindale en los grados Tk-12 se ha ampliado hasta el sábado 20 de junio de 2026 a las 4 p. m.

Mientras nuestro país celebra 250 años desde la firma de la Declaración de Independencia, piensa en lo que hace que los Estados Unidos sea especial para ti. Crea un poema, escribe un ensayo, dibuja una imagen o diseña un collage que imagine cómo podría ser nuestro país dentro de 50 años. Se otorgarán premios al 1er, 2do y 3er lugar en cada categoría: Tk-1er, 2do-3er, 4to-5to, 6to-8vo y 9no-12vo. Recoge una solicitud en la Biblioteca Pública de Irwindale. Los ganadores se anunciarán el jueves 2 de julio en el evento Música en el Parque, de 7:00 p. m. a 9:00 p. m.

Summer reading is here! 🏖️ 📚 Come sign up for the 2026 Summer Reading Program! All ages are invited to join. Pre-Readers and Children win weekly prizes, and Teens and Adults are entered into raffles.

Week 1 of reading starts today, Monday, June 15. Be sure to come before the end of this week (Saturday, June 20, 4pm) to redeem your prize for Week 1 of reading. Participants must be present when picking up their prizes. Happy Summer reading!

Adults are invited to join the IRWINDALE PUBLIC LIBRARY BOOK CLUB! 📚 During the month of June we will be reading America’s First Daughter by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie, and will discuss the book at our next Book Club meeting (Thursday, July 2, at 6pm).
