Seven weeks. Countless "aha!" moments. π
Over the past seven weeks, our AAC Growth Collective participants have built a comprehensive foundation for confident AAC practice:
β¨ Week 1: Challenged AAC myths and built a neuro-affirming foundation.
β¨ Week 2: Strengthened assessment skills and wrote functional, meaningful goals.
β¨ Week 3: Matched access methods to each communicator's unique movement needs.
β¨ Week 4: Mastered feature matching to select systems that fit the individual.
β¨ Week 5: Learned how to navigate trials, documentation, funding, and team collaboration.
β¨ Week 6: Explored sensory, executive function, and motor supports that create the conditions for successful communication.
β¨ Week 7: Put it all together with evidence-based intervention strategies including aided language modeling, child-led interactions, and partner coaching.
This cohort has been about so much more than learning AAC strategies - it's been about building the clinical reasoning and confidence to make informed decisions that improve communication outcomes for children and families.
One week to go, and we can't wait to see how our participants continue to grow and carry these skills into their everyday practice! π
π Progress doesnβt always look the same.
When working with kids with progressive conditions, the goal is to support function, comfort, participation, and quality of life every step of the way.
