Agentic cloud operations: Introducing Azure Copilot
Azure is entering a new era where AI becomes the foundation for running your cloud. As environments grow more complex, traditional tools and manual workflows can’t keep up. This brings us to a frontier moment, where AI and cloud converge to redefine operations. We call this agentic cloud ops: a new model for the AI era.
What is Azure Copilot?
Azure Copilot is a new agentic interface that orchestrates specialized agents across the cloud management lifecycle, automating migration, optimization, troubleshooting, and more, freeing up teams to focus on innovation.
Azure Copilot aligns actions—human or agent—with your policies and standards, offering a unified framework for compliance, auditing, and enforcement that respects role-based access control (RBAC) and Azure Policy. It provides strong governance and data residency controls, full visibility across agents and workloads, and lets you bring your own storage for complete control of chat and artifact data. To make the operating model truly agentic, we’re introducing six Azure Copilot agents—migration, deployment, optimization, observability, resiliency, and troubleshooting—in gated preview.

New SharePoint Experience
SharePoint is redesigned for simplicity and clarity, centered on discovering, publishing, and building—now with flexible workflows and AI-first capabilities built in.
What is in the new SharePoint experience?
The new SharePoint experience consists of the following changes:
1. The SharePoint home page is replaced with a Discover experience.
2. The SharePoint app bar is refreshed with a newer experience.
3. The new app bar has two new destinations, Publish and Build destinations.
4. The new app bar will show global navigation at the top with the logo and name, if it is enabled and configured in your Home site.
5. The visual updates include neutral app theming that applies a consistent, neutral palette to SharePoint UI surfaces and elevating content forward across key surfaces (including SPFx placeholders). Together, these changes reduce visual noise, improve readability, and bring clearer structure and visual focus to customer branding and content as users view and edit pages.

Microsoft Expands Azure AI Infrastructure with AMD to Power Next-Gen Workloads Today
Microsoft expands Azure AI infrastructure with AMD CPUs and AI platforms to boost performance, efficiency, and scalability.
Microsoft is doubling down on AI infrastructure—and this time, it’s bringing AMD along in a big way. Microsoft has announced a major expansion of its Azure AI and high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure, partnering with AMD to deliver more specialized and scalable solutions for modern AI workloads. As demand for AI continues to explode—especially with agent-based systems and large-scale inference—Microsoft is evolving Azure to support a broader range of compute needs across the stack.
In a new blog post published July, 2026, Microsoft detailed how this collaboration brings AMD’s latest Helios AI platform and next-gen EPYC processors into Azure, powering three new VM series tailored for data processing, chip design, and AI inference. The move reflects Microsoft’s broader strategy of building a heterogeneous AI infrastructure that balances performance, cost, and energy efficiency.

Introducing Microsoft Scout: Microsoft’s Powerful Always‑On Autopilot Agent For Microsoft 365
Microsoft Scout is a powerful always-on Autopilot agent for Microsoft 365 that coordinates work, spots risks, and stays within your org’s controls.
Scout is tightly integrated across the Microsoft 365 apps you already use, including Teams, сс, OneDrive, and SharePoint. It connects to the data that drives your day—chats, email, calendar, contacts—and you primarily interact with it through Teams, while a desktop app extends its reach to the browser, local resources, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers.
Microsoft describes several core capabilities: Scout can proactively coordinate meetings across time zones, flag important meetings, generate prep materials, identify upcoming deliverables, automatically block focus time on your calendar, and surface stalled decisions so you can address them before they become blockers. Over time, Scout learns how you work and what you care about, so it can better anticipate what needs to happen next.

Microsoft Cuts AI Bill by Replacing OpenAI and Anthropic in Software Products
• Microsoft is replacing OpenAI and Anthropic with in-house MAI models in Excel and Outlook.
• Tens of thousands of weekly prompts now run on Microsoft's internally built AI models.
• Microsoft started cancelling most internal Claude Code licenses in 2026.
Tens of thousands of prompts in the two applications now run each week on Microsoft’s internally built models.
Microsoft consumes huge volumes of AI tokens across products such as its Copilot assistant. It currently gets much of that computing at a discount through a long-standing partnership with OpenAI.
Reported that Excel and Outlook had previously leaned more on OpenAI and Anthropic. Now, MAI usage accounts for a small share of overall AI activity.

What’s new for SharePoint – July 2026
SharePoint and Copilot have become almost inseparable at this point, and that makes a lot of sense. SharePoint is where most organisations store their documents, policies, intranet pages, and structured data, so it was always going to be the foundation Copilot draws from when answering questions or generating content. The better your SharePoint is organised and the more Copilot understands it, the better your AI experience across the whole Microsoft 365 ecosystem. This month’s updates push that relationship even further.
The first is Copilot finally coming to SharePoint creation itself. Anyone who has spent time building SharePoint pages knows how tedious the authoring experience can be, and having Copilot assist through a chat interface to create and edit content is a real quality of life improvement for comms teams, intranet owners, and anyone who publishes content regularly.
The second is SharePoint lists becoming a knowledge source for Copilot agents, which opens up a lot of possibilities for teams that already rely on lists to manage projects, track data, or store structured information.
The third is Authoritative Sites, which lets admins flag specific SharePoint sites as trusted so Copilot prioritises that content in search and chat responses.

Windows Platform Security for AI Agents: How Microsoft’s Powerful MXC Model Keeps Autonomous Agents In Check
Microsoft is laying out a powerful security vision for the AI agent era, and Windows is right at the center of it. The new “Windows platform security for AI agents” update explains how Microsoft plans to make Windows the trustworthy operating system for agents that not only answer questions, but also take real actions across files, apps, and cloud services.
As AI agents become more autonomous and persistent, Microsoft argues that security cannot just be bolted onto apps or models after the fact. Instead, Windows is baking containment, identity, and manageability into the operating system itself so developers, IT, and security teams can build, deploy, and govern agents with confidence.
Microsoft details powerful new Windows Platform Security for AI Agents features like MXC to keep AI agents safe, contained, and trustworthy at scale.
