It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of beloved brother in Christ, Emmett Raitt.

Emmett was transferred from the hospital to a skilled nursing facility almost three weeks ago so that he could receive dialysis and recover from a fall. He was receiving treatment and family was able to visit with him during this time. The transition was challenging, of course, but it seemed that his health had stabilized so his death was unexpected.

We grieve the loss of our dear friend, who held the door open in welcome for each person at Canvas with a smile and warm greeting reminding us all how dearly we are loved by God. Emmett loved us greatly, and we loved him. We give thanks that his suffering is over and that he is with the Lord.

Please keep the Raitt Family in your prayers for peace and comfort during this time. We will update you all once we have details for a service.

It’s that time of year when Canvas loves to honor our child(ren) with the gift of God’s Word in the form of a Bible that is most appropriate for their reading level. If your child(ren) is NEW to Canvas or if they are at a new reading level, please contact us so we can provide them with a new Bible. And, if your child is graduating during this season, we want to celebrate them and share the news! If you are comfortable with sharing their picture, name and graduating information, please send it to us by May 31.

We are meeting at Eureka!, located in the UCI Town Center on Wednesday, April 29th. Please bring your curiosity, your questions and your friends! If you have a particularly challenging question, email Kirk ahead of time so he can take a minute to think on it (always appreciated)! Also, we will be sitting outside at the back patio, so you might want to bring a sweater or coat – it can get chilly!

MaryAnn McKibben Dana led a workshop titled, "Better than Normal" which focused on helping churches meet the needs of the folks in their midst, particularly neurodivergent Christians.
