Street riding. Dirt riding. Adventure riding. Advanced skills.
Did you know that MSF offers multiple course options to help riders start AND continue learning?
Find out more on our website!
Motorcycling doesn’t have one “look," one “type” of bike, or one “kind” of rider.
That’s the best part about this community.
Whether you’re curious about riding for the very first time, getting back into it after years away, or finally ready to stop saying “one day”… there’s a place for you at your local MSF site.
Not sure where to start?
🏍️ Try an MSF RIDE Day for a relaxed first experience on a motorcycle with a RiderCoach by your side. It's free!
🏍️ Ready to learn to ride? The MSF Basic RiderCourse helps riders build foundational skills and confidence in a controlled environment.
Your journey doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. It just has to start.

Don't neglect that lovely motorcycle!
A quick pre-ride check can help you spot small issues before they become bigger problems. T-CLOCS matters:

There’s no perfect rider height.
Sure, having a longer inseam can make more motorcycles feel accessible right away. Being able to flat foot, or even tip-toe, can absolutely help build initial confidence.
But plenty of motorcycles work well for shorter riders too. Not every bike has a tall seat height - many motorcycles are naturally lower to the ground, and some have seat settings that can be adjusted or lowered further to better fit the rider.
And here’s the important part: as your confidence and skills grow, your options often grow too. Bikes that once felt intimidating may gradually feel completely manageable as you learn body positioning at a stop.
MSF RiderCoaches can help you build confidence and technique, and find the right fit for your experience level. Reach out to your local training range and ask what options they have available for you.

A motorcycle’s front brake provides roughly 70–90% of your stopping power, depending on the bike and conditions.
Because of that, there are a lot of interesting myths around it:
🏍️ “Using the front brake will make you crash.”
🏍️ “Never touch the front brake on gravel or dirt.”
🏍️ “It’s too dangerous in an emergency stop.”
But the reality is the front brake is one of the most important tools you have as a rider.
Like Spiderman's Uncle Ben said: with great power comes great responsibility.
Good braking isn’t about grabbing a handful of front brake in a panic and hoping for the best. It’s about practicing smooth, progressive braking and learning how your front and rear brakes work together.
Come learn and practice these skills at an MSF training site.
