The doctor sent an old PFM for us to shade match.

Behind-the-scenes reality:
A great client called and asked if we could mill a full-mouth PMMA and return it ASAP. We completed the model work, finalized the design, and finished milling—only to realize the PMMA pucks were not the same shade.

Even though all pucks were labeled A2 and came from a highly reputable manufacturer, there was still a visible shade difference.

At Zahn Technik Lab, we use the world’s best materials and equipment, yet variations from puck to puck can still happen.

The good news? We remilled the PMMA and delivered everything on time 😅

We had the pleasure to have the management team from 3 Shape visit us from Denmark 🇩🇰. 3 Shape was founded by Nikolaj Deichmann & Tais Clausen in Copenhagen in 2000. They started with hearing aid shells and transitioned into dentistry in 2005, introducing their first lab design software at IDS Germany. In 2011 they introduced the intra-oral scanners and quickly became one of global leaders in digital dental technology. After our meeting with them, I’ve realized that there is a lot of exciting projects around the corner. 3 Shape is going to remain one of the global leaders for many years to come, due to the great minds of the company.
