Freegrass plays the wonderful new Global Food Project farmers market this Saturday August 30 from 3 to 5 pm.
Global Food Project is located at the Johnson County Historic Poor Farm (4811 Melrose Avenue in Iowa City).
Cash, check and SNAP are accepted by the farmers at this market.

Join us this Saturday, June 7 from 6-8 PM for Freegrass Trio at Northside Saturday Nights
Freegrass is a trio of musicians (Dan Padley on guitar, Tara McGovern on fiddle, and Blake Shaw on cello and vocals) who have been called a collaborator’s dream team that just so
happen to write and perform their own music as well. The group strives to stretch the limits and wander the lines of genre all while creating the most beautiful music possible.
The name “Freegrass” is inspired both by the group’s goal of being FREE of genre labels and constraints and also by blueGRASS traits such as staying true to your best self and pushing forward.
From Felix Mendelssohn to Mel Tormé, Wheatus to Thelonious Monk, along with Dan Padley’s originals, Freegrass has a bit of everything. Prepare to be wide eyed one moment and the next close your eyes and reap the hypnotizing sounds that emanate from the souls of Freegrass.
This innovative collaboration between Freegrass cellist Blake Shaw, guitarist Dan Padley and the superb Red Cedar Chamber Musicians Miera Kim and Carey Bostian features two original four-movement suites (one by Blake and the other by Dan) along with some exquisite takes on jazz standards.
The last two performances are today (Friday April 18) at 2 pm at the Center in Iowa City and at 7 pm at CSPS Hall in Cedar Rapids.
