Design & install:

Working with multiple materials in an outdoor space to make it all connect is what I love doing. Here we took a rough natural stone and ground down a portion of the top to create a nice contrast of smooth and rough on these seat rocks. Along side Beacon Hill XL pavers with a Mattoni paver inlay. This client got a unique Fiddlehead detail.

Let us introduce ourselves. Fiddlehead Gardens is a family run landscape design build company and we are Curtis, Cassidy, Ceci and Piet. When we are not building or thinking about gardens we are hanging together with this busy crew. Cassidy Schoenthaler. Not pictured are our wonderful crew members that help us build these special spaces everyday in the field. Teamwork!

Details matter. This project from this summer we used pavers to complete this pool deck.

A beautiful example of great hardscaping that is balanced out with the right plants in the right spot. Garden design has always been about scale, balance and contrast. This garden we installed last year using .valders.stone from is a great example.

We are paver guys!!! Happy to join the authorized contractor list . Outdoor living is what we love doing.

We are beyond excited to take delivery of our tilt rotator. This will be going on our 304. With labor being an issue, we have decided to invest in good equipment and the employees that want to run the best. We look forward to showing all our upcoming and future clients how serious we are.

Our brand is to have silver trucks all matching. This f550 just got out of the paint booth and we look forward to the new logos coming up. Welcome to the team truck #6!!

Fiddlehead Gardens is looking for a plant enthusiast to join our team! He or she must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, be willing to work outside in all conditions and have an interest in all aspects of the landscaping field- hardscapes, plantings, construction, etc.

Must have valid license and clean driving record. Class A CDL a plus (and will result in immediate pay raise).

Experience with equipment not necessary. On the job training will be available.

Weekly over-time. Free staff lunch every Friday.

Fiddlehead Gardens is a landscape design/build company in Iowa City seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team for installations of residential and commercial design/build projects as a nursery manager. If you love plants, want to be part of a great team, learn new skills, build outdoor spaces and have fun, with the potential for growth-please apply.

The nursery manager position is extremely flexible. Work between 15-50 hours a week depending on your availability and interest. From watering and caring for the plants in the nursery, to unloading and prepping them for upcoming jobs, and assisting in garden installations, the opportunities are endless.

We were commissioned to install a labyrinth in 2019. The details in this are amazing! Great craftsmanship comes when you’re not the low bidder. We were able to do our thing here and it paid off in the results.

We completed our truck fabrication by adding these tool boxes with a cage for storage above. We just stepped up our efficiency and organization game!!

I started my career working on high end gardens in the Pacific Northwest and then moved into Hardscape design build. We take great pride in the horticultural knowledge our team has to be able to soften beautiful stonework and invite calmness to a garden installation. This garden installed in 2020 was an effort of many talented artisans. .a.b thanks for the help in making it pop.

We close out 2021 with this large retaining wall that will hold up this family’s outdoor living space. We love building walls because it is the perfect example of how I created Fiddlehead Gardens, from nothing and with a strong base. 2021 was the best year yet for us and we thank all our wonderful clients and crew members for making it possible. We look forward to 2022 and the fun we are going to have designing and building unique outdoor spaces in the Iowa City area.
