✨Jerry Hora is retiring ✨

For about 30 years, Jerry has worked at Pleasant Valley. From being apart of the construction crew of the course in the 1980’s, to working Flower Shoppe delivery in the early 2000’s, to most recently being a mower in our maintenance department. This week, Jerry is retiring from PV and hopes to use his free time for more rounds of golf!

Best wishes to you and your life beyond Pleasant Valley—and here’s to many more pars and birdies in your future!

On Sunday, October 15, we will be hosting our Annual “Chili Dip Invitational”. The field is limited so call the Pro Shop (319.337.2622) to get your foursome signed up! A few details include:

Format: 4 Person Best Shot
Time: Shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
Cost: $300 per team (1 payment)

Includes:
- Range balls before golf
- 18 holes/riding

Day One of Four is in the books...A bit soggy, but golfers, buddies, volunteers and staff all helped this group of Disabled Veterans from all over the country love the game of golf even more! Thanks for your service.

Pleasant Valley Golf Course will be closed to the public until 3pm Monday-Thursday of next week. We are hosting a National Veteran Tournamant from September 11th-September 14th.

We have the City High Girls Golf Team volunteering their time on Monday, and the City High Boys Golf Team volunteering their time on Tuesday.

If you, or anybody you know, would be interested in spending a portion of the day on Wednesday or Thursday to help disabled Veterans navigate our golf course, please contact Dylan at [email protected].

Lately so many of our customers have been complimenting our Bubble Gum Pink Petunias planted in our front entrance to the clubhouse and throughout the course in several of our planted pots. This is a favorite looks of ours! We try to give the course a different variety of annuals planted each year, but always come back to this every few years.

We get all of our annuals from Pleasant Valley Greenhouses in South English each year. Dawn is fabulous to work with and knows her stuff! Check out her page and take a 45 minute drive to see her stuff. It’s unlike anything in the area!!!

As we got a small taste of golf this past weekend, and golf is closer than ever (looking *possibly* at opening on March 18/19th) we want to help show off the best deal we have at PVGC.

If you, or the golfer in your life plays frequently at our course, this is the thing for you. When you pay a certain amount towards greens fees, range balls, golf cars, or push carts—then PVGC will credit your account a certain amount of ✨FREE✨ play.

Then, as you call to book your tee time, or srop by to hit range balls, there is no exchange of cash or card. We simply deduct your charge for the day from your account. And the best part—it rolls over from year to year! You don’t have to use it all up during the 2023 season.

Arie and Toni Kroeze started Pleasant Valley in 1952 in Iowa City, Iowa. The early days were filled with working long days at a local greenhouse and then working after hours in private gardens and yards around the city.

Some major expansions happened in the 1980’s at Pleasant Valley. A full service flower shoppe was added to the garden center and an 18-hole public golf course was developed, built, and opened.

Since 1998, Aleda Kroeze Feuerbach, with her husband Kerry and their children, are now carrying on the tradition of growing and beautifying the area since 1952.

Beginning this upcoming golf season, Aleda and Kerry’s daughter, Missie Feuerbach Helm, along with her husband, Dylan Helm, are stepping in as the 3rd generation of family to operate and manage Pleasant Valley Golf Course. They, along with their two daughters, and son on the way, plan to continue what Pleasant Valley is all about… the enrichment of our environment with a family feel.

We hope to see you this golf season! We have made some great changes around the clubhouse and course, and can’t wait for all of our guests to enjoy them!
