On Wednesday, July 15th, from 4-9 p.m., we are partnering with the Ford Drake Memorial (Scout Troop 1241 Garden City, MI) and hosting a dinner fundraiser at Applebee's Grill + Bar (26582 Ford Road, Dearborn Heights, MI 48127)! By purchasing a dine-in or take-out meal and mentioning the Inspire Inkster fundraiser, you can help us keep our youth programming financially sustainable via having dinner with us! Inkster, we are making serious inquiries on potentially launching a 4-H program for the city's youth. 😁 However, before we implement anything, we need your feedback: Would this be beneficial for the youth (aged 5-18) of the city? Would it duplicate anything already being done? Would your children participate if we launched this, and what ages are they?

More information about 4-H can be found here: https://4-h.org/programs/

Please let us know in the comments section on this post. We are interested in this program and believe that it would help meet several needs in the community, but we also will not be able to launch this without feedback and interest from families. Thank you!

Of course I forgot to grab a group picture until after the meeting ended and some had already left πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« But we had a really nice Sea Scouts meeting today with Ship 2026! With an uncertain weather forecast today, we elected to have an indoor planning/logistics meeting. This is a great group of youth who get along well together and are motivated/positive, and I always leave their meetings in high spirits and excited to see what happens next. Can't wait until next time!!!

Please sign your children up, whether it's through this program or other resources we have shared! Swimming and water safety lessons help keep kids safe!

Recent near-drownings in the metro Detroit area β€” including incidents involving a 12-year-old in Taylor and a 2-year-old in Dearborn β€” are renewing focus on water safety as summer gets underway.

Troop 499 had its Court of Honor tonight, and all of our youth earned merit badges and/or rank advancements. 😁 Congratulations to all boys in the troop for earning a combined total of 2 Eagle ranks, 3 Tenderfoot ranks, 2 Scout ranks, and 18 merit badges since the last ceremony!
