We are pleased to share another monumental milestone for the Coastal Bend region.
Following the recent expansion of the Texas Forensic Nurse Examiner (TXFNE) program, access to Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) services for adult patients has grown from a single regional facility to 18 participating locations throughout our region.
This expansion means that survivors seeking forensic medical care now have significantly more options to receive timely, trauma-informed services closer to home. In addition to our participating hospital partners, Physicians Premier Emergency Room has joined the regional network, further increasing access points for patients in the Coastal Bend.
The success of this initiative reflects the collaboration and dedication of our regional healthcare partners, advocacy organizations, EMS agencies, and TXFNE. Together, we are working to ensure that survivors have access to high-quality forensic nursing services regardless of where they enter the healthcare system.
*Please note that Driscoll Children's Hospital will continue to serve as the primary hub for pediatric patients requiring forensic medical services. Depending on patient and family preference, Driscoll may also provide forensic medical services for patients up to 21 years of age. Pediatric patients may be seen at other participating facilities if requested by the patient and/or guardian. Following the examination, patients will be connected with the Driscoll CARE Team to ensure appropriate follow-up services, referrals, and continuity of care.*
This expansion represents a major step forward in our commitment to improving access to care, reducing barriers for survivors, and strengthening the continuum of services available across the Coastal Bend.
Please see the attached updated list of participating facilities currently offering access to TXFNE/SANE services within the Coastal Bend region.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all participating facilities and partners for their ongoing support and commitment to this important program.
Thank you for your continued partnership in advancing survivor-centered care throughout our region.

Millions across the U.S. are facing their first round of summer heat this week! 🌡️🥵
Your first instinct on a 90-degree day may be to get in the car, crank the AC to max and sit there, but there’s a much faster way to clear out stagnant air. ⤵️
And remember: a parked car gets dangerously hot instantly. Never leave a child alone in a vehicle — not even for a second.
