Everything with you feels brand new

I am extension of my mother in so many ways, but I think of the more obvious examples is in my love and passion for music. If my dad instilled the work ethic, it was my mom who bestowed the ability. A few years ago I wrote her a song in hopes to ease her fears of the path I chose in pursuing music. It was a letter of assurance but also encouragement, urging her to trust that I’ll be alright because I had her to raise me right. Now, to be able to stand in her own shoes, so to speak, I have a better understanding of the goals SHE was in pursuit of for OUR benefit. That selflessness isn’t lost on me and I think these words hit a little differently now because of it. Happy Mother’s Day to the one who first ignited the fire to this passion and has continued to fan the flame ever since. I am a reflection of you and I’m all the better for it. For those who are fortunate to be able to, hug and hold your moms a little tighter today.
