Last week, WFYI along with The Polis Center, presented SAVI Data & Drafts: The State of Child Care Access in Central Indiana. The presentation explored how availability and cost impact access to organized, quality care, such as childcare centers and early learning programs and what the data reveals about this critical issue.

Conversation centered around policy and market forces that are shaping the current state of childcare, including the high cost of burden for care for birth and the lack of access in many communities in rural and suburban areas.

One attendee noted, “I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this was more than what I thought it would be. This is a hard time for families and for those of us who want to help them thrive.”

We'd like to thank The Polis Center, SAVI and the Indianapolis Public Library for their continued partnership.

Bedford, Indiana celebrated the 1976 Bicentennial in a monumental way.

Emanuel Leutze’s famous painting, Washington Crossing the Delaware, celebrates an almost mythical moment during the American Revolution. Yet a stone carver from Bedford, Indiana, Frank Arena Jr. maximized the drama even more by carving a life-sized limestone version to celebrate the United States Bicentennial in 1976. Across Indiana speaks with his family about this patriotic achievement.
