Integrated Public Safety Commission - Indiana
Promoting Local, State and Federal Interoperable Communications
IPSC is the Indiana state agency statutorily charged with promoting interoperable communications.

We are excited to share that the Integrated Public Safety Commission is joining the Indiana Department of Homeland Security as the new Office of Emergency Communications effective July 1. While the name and organizational structure are changing, the mission remains the same. This transition strengthens collaboration between emergency management, public safety communications and homeland security while maintaining the same staff, expertise and commitment to statewide interoperability.
The Office of Emergency Communications will continue managing Indiana's interoperable communication systems, including land mobile radio networks, public safety infrastructure, FirstNet coordination and partnerships that support emergency communications across the state while also offering cost-free training and support to Indiana communities using the state's public safety communications network.

This week is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week—a time to honor the calm voices in the storm. 🎙️✨
They are the superheroes behind the headset that the world rarely sees, yet they are the critical link in every emergency. As the "first" first responders, they are the glue that holds an incident together and the keystone keeping both the public and our field units safe.
To our dispatchers: We see you, we hear you, and we appreciate everything you do to keep our communities safe! 💛🖤

In 2025, Indiana’s 911 telecommunicators answered more than 3.2 million calls and handled over 39,000 texts to 911.
Behind every number is a calm voice, a quick decision and a life impacted. When seconds matter, they are there.
