Here’s to two more weeks of learning, friendship and summer fun!

We’re grateful to the Indianapolis Recorder and reporter Hanna Rauworth for sharing this important story from Harshman Middle School: https://indianapolisrecorder.com/harshman-sees-suspension-rates-plummet-amid-school-transformation/
This is what happens when students, educators, school leaders, community partners, and funders believe there is a better way to respond to conflict.
Huge thanks to Harshman Middle School, Indianapolis Public Schools, and Indiana University Health for helping make this kind of prevention-centered work possible.
Through restorative practices and peer mediation students are learning how to pause, communicate, repair harm, and stay connected to school.
Harshman sees suspension rates plummet amid school transformation - Indianapolis Recorder Out-of-school suspensions at one Indianapolis middle school have fallen by 95% over the past four years as some students increasingly turn to mediation and restorative practices instead of disciplinary measures, according to new data released by the Peace Learning Center.

Peace Learning Center’s summer camps are in full swing, and our students are spending their days learning, exploring, creating, and growing together.
We’ve created an Amazon Wish List to help support camp activities, crafts, outdoor learning, and the everyday supplies that make a big difference during a busy summer program.
This is an easy, direct way to support local youth and help make camp even more meaningful.
