Peace Learning Center
Facilitating community learning that acts as a catalyst for peace building
Peace Learning Center empowers young people, educators, and community leaders with the skills to build healthier relationships, resolve conflict peacefully, and create more compassionate communities. Through decades of peacemaking education and leadership development, the organization has helped transform schools, workplaces, and communities across Central Indiana and beyond.
The Work for a Nonprofit, Make a Difference campaign amplifies local nonprofits and inspires more people to join a sector that strengthens communities and shapes our state’s future.
Peace Learning Center was honored to be selected as part of Charitable Advisors’ Work for a Nonprofit, Make a Difference campaign.
The campaign highlights the purpose, impact, and heart behind nonprofit careers across Indiana. For us, nonprofit work means helping people build the skills to listen, understand one another, resolve conflict, and create stronger communities.
We are grateful for the chance to share a small piece of what it means to do mission-driven work every day.

Summer Camp season is getting close at Peace Learning Center, and this week our counselors and junior counselors are already hard at work preparing for it. ☀️🌿
Inside the PLC lodge at Eagle Creek Park, camp staff are learning how to lead Opening Circles, build trust, support teamwork, and create spaces where kids feel welcomed and valued from day one.
We loved seeing today’s group agreements take shape on the board:
• Be yourself
• Listen attentively
• Be caring
• Be a team player
• Be curious
That’s the culture we want every camper to experience this summer.
Soon these same spaces will be filled with campfires, nature hikes, laughter, creativity, friendship, and kids discovering confidence in themselves and each other.

Summer is a great time for kids to step away from screens, spread their wings, and discover what kind of difference they want to make.
Some PLC Summer Camps have filled up, but a few week-long camps still have spots available:
Movement Camp: June 1–5
Beginner’s Climate Camp: June 8–12
Resilient Changemakers Camp: June 22–26
Earth Charter Indiana Climate Camps: June 1–July 17
Peace Learning Center’s Resilient Changemakers Camp is designed for ages 12–18 and gives young people a chance to build leadership skills, practice empathy, explore real-world challenges, and connect with others in the natural setting of Eagle Creek Park.

Sunday’s Personal Peace Practices gathering felt like spring telling us to slow down for a minute.
With brisk temperatures, occasional sunshine, and the beauty of Eagle Creek Park all around us, part of the afternoon included a one-hour hike as participants searched for wildflowers, fresh air, and a little more room to breathe. It was a good reminder that peace practice does not always happen sitting still. Sometimes it happens on a trail, in conversation, in quiet, and in the simple act of paying attention.
These photos capture that part of the day beautifully.
Missed this one? The next Personal Peace Practices event is coming in July. Stay tuned.
