Teaching Tuesdays - United Steelworkers 03/11/2026

The USW has developed our next round of online Teaching Tuesday classes and wanted to see if this link could be included in any communications or social media to members in District 7. We're trying to promote this to as many parts of the union as we can to build up attendance: https://usw.org/get-involved/education/teaching-tuesdays/.

These are classes members can participate in from the comfort of their homes or anywhere else they have internet reception. They are held at 11:00 AM and 8:00 PM EST to accommodate different shifts and time zones. We are also doing a Steward class on Saturday, March 21 at 12:00 p.m. EST.

Teaching Tuesdays - United Steelworkers Teaching Tuesdays is a series of classes that USW members can attend from the comfort of their homes to learn how to strengthen our union.

Tony Mazzocchi was a labor leader and environmentalist who championed workers’ health and safety, playing a key role in pushing for the creation of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) in 1970. Mazzocchi also helped link the labor and environmental movements, coining the idea of a “just transition” for workers affected by environmental policies.

Today, the USW Tony Mazzocchi Center (USWTMC) helps workers stay safe on the job by providing training on health, safety, and environmental hazards. Through partnerships with various groups, the USWTMC works to prevent workplace injuries, illnesses, and hazardous exposures across industries.
