Therapy Redefined
We offer pediatric speech and occupational therapy in a fun & engaging environment.
You don't need special worksheets or expensive learning materials to support language development this summer.
A single book can become a powerful language-building activity!
Before reading:
🔍 Look at the cover and predict what the story will be about.
During reading:
đź’¬ Ask WH-questions (who, what, where, when, why).
After reading:
đź“– Have your child retell the story using beginning, middle, and end.
These simple conversations help strengthen vocabulary, comprehension, sequencing, and storytelling skills.
Small moments can make a big difference!
Want to know one of the best ways to support your child's reading skills this summer?
Read WITH them!
When children hear adults model fluent reading, they are exposed to new vocabulary, sentence structures, and storytelling skills that help strengthen language development.
Try pausing occasionally to:
- Ask questions
- Explain unfamiliar words
- Connect the story to your child's experiences
Reading together isn't just building literacy skills—it's creating meaningful conversations and memories, too.
At Therapy Redefined, we love helping children develop the communication skills they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
"Summer is a time for pool days, family vacations, and making memories, but it's also an important time to keep growing language skills.
The good news? Reading doesn't have to feel like homework.
Try these simple ways to build language while reading with your child:
📚 Ask questions about the story
📚 Talk about what might happen next
📚 Point out new vocabulary words
📚 Have your child retell the story in their own words
Just 15-20 minutes of reading each day can help support language development and prepare children for a successful return to school in the fall.
The final step in our evaluation process is play!
At Therapy Redefined, we strongly believe that play is one of the best ways to learn and grow. We can see how your child follows directions, describes activities, and communicates needs.
After the play-based evaluation, we will develop a personalized plan for you child so they can grow and reach the next milestone!
